confessions from a writer part 1
Sometimes I am too paralyzed to write even though I have the story in my head. It's really hard sometimes to get words onto the page. It's like fear is blocking me, and majority of the time it is.

i can’t wait to just be done with this fic so i can start living my life again lmao
One of my favorite things is when person A calls person B “kid” if they are a bit younger than they are (not necessarily a minor). First it’s used to remind B that A is older and wiser and very much annoyed with B, and then it turns into a term of affection. One of my favorite things is a concerned caretaker saying “Hey kid, it’s okay, you’re gonna be fine” or just using the term as they ruffe B’s hair 😍
Me too. Omg. You have no idea how many times I have had to stop myself from having my characters call anyone who might even be the slightest bit younger than them, kid. I love nothing more than that father/son dynamic between people that aren’t related by blood.
tfw you’re 44,000 words into a fic and suddenly you decide you need to change things...
I hope you don't mind me coming here to rant but I'm sooo mad. I basically spent the past few weeks working on a Tony and Steve whump fic (which was nearing around 10,000 words). Anyway, I somehow managed to save over it and have spent the past couple of hours trying to recover it but nothing seems to work and I can't figure out a way to get it back *sighs. I have no idea whether to laugh or cry. I hope someone will mourn with me the loss of the whump fic that almost was but never will be XD.
I am so sorry to hear that, nonny! (and I don’t mind that you came here to rant.) I totally feel for you because I did something very similar once. I edited a H50 fic I was writing and loved what I had changed. I thought I saved it, but I couldn’t find the updated draft anywhere. I searched everywhere but it was gone and I was devastated and never wanted to look at the fic again. We put our hearts and souls into those things and to lose it is like losing a limb.

Have you ever painstakingly gone through a rewrite of a fic and been really happy with the outcome and then set it aside for while because you’re busy? Then when you go to reopen it you find that all your work has inexplicably disappeared? And you’re an extremely organized person and there are only a few places on your computer where you store fic so you do a complete computer check, even locating that elusive unsaved word documents file and find nothing? Yeah, that happened to me recently and I think I’m going to be sick.
There is a guest reviewer reading my SGA novel on FF.net who is leaving me the most amazing reviews. I can’t DM them to thank them so Kattkynz, if you are reading this or following my blog, thank you for your comments. They are literally giving me life.
