Explained: confetti meme
On 19 February 2017, Tumblr celebrated its tenth anniversary. Users who logged in to their Tumblrs on this date were greeted with a confetti animation overlaid on their dashboards.
Tumblr users started poking fun at this and making posts about it.
Although the confetti meme does not necessarily follow a certain format, there have been certain prominent variations.
In one variant, users edit photos and GIFs so they are overlaid with the confetti animation that Tumblr used.
In another variant, users may simply make reference to the confetti or use GIFs involving confetti.
As the confetti animation was only on Tumblr for 19 February 2017, the meme seems to have peaked the most then.
