Helps instill confidence under pressure
Lowers and/or eliminates performance anxiety
Builds focus and concentration during practice and competition
The secret to many athlete's success is the ability to tap into there mental toughness. Fact of the matter is, there are times when you just don't want to wake up for 6 am weights or work hard during an unexpected Saturday practice BUT, you have to ignore that little voice in your head saying it's ok to give up or slack off.
Without building a stronger sense of mental toughness as you transition from player to professional it will be hard to continue to build and reach your full potential as an athlete. There are many books and articles that can teach you simply tips and tricks to help develop your mental toughness as you further your career.
Confidence
What decides how confident we are?
Some might say being prepared for the task at hand. Others will say it’s a state of mind.
I have a love-hate relationship with confident people. Or how I like to call them, “over confident”. Why? because of how I judge them.
Judgement! That’s the problem here! I judge them, so I think they will judge me. Yes, some people think they are better at a task than others, and It bothers us. For some
hysterical reason we want validation. Yes, we all want that job, and we all want to impress, but guess what? Second guessing your self is not working for you. Instead of wasting our time being bothered by other peoples confidence, instead of wasting your energy begging for validation, STOP and learn from it. All that confident people do is believe in them selves. So much that they convince many and get what they want.
It’s how we judge our self that makes the difference. Built your confidence by believing and giving yourself the opportunity to be great. Remember to prepare for the task. That never hurts. It’s your choice.
