i’ll admit the lipstick thing made me laugh more than it should have :’vv

but yeah @ jubilee, i could see it too? and in all honesty i’d be a-okay with having lefou be confirmed gay if someone else was too, or if the directing team even like... acknowledged that this is something that could happen. “great idea, bad execution” kind of feeling.

idk if they felt like “more than one gay person in one movie is too much” or whatever but like.... they have no excuse honestly. i’d wager beauty and the best has one of THE largest casts of speaking characters of any disney show in any medium. literally any of the extras. any of them. the lady with the wig in “bonjour”? mop #7? the fucking chef stove? anyone???

i’m also afraid they might be trying to add in this extra struggle of a gay person discovering themselves in a time/place where that isn’t accepted but like... i feel like that would detract from the bigger overarching plot? there is some level of self-acceptance involved but a mini-plot like that seems super out of place and honestly gives the other side a spotlight i don’t think it deserves - and this is mostly speculation on my part, i could be reading into it too much/worrying too much, but yknow

also, more relevant, i think this was just... a really, really poor choice for “disney’s first gay character!!!” like. are they trying to say that no other character in all of disney was ever gay? like? not a single fucking one? if they know this is the burden they’re carrying you’d THINK they’d put a little more thought into it?
