Don’t let the facts get in the way of your agenda. That should be the title of this meme. Vitter was searching in all the wrong statutes in order to find some justification for not supporting Attorney General Nominee Loretta Lynch. He stated incorrectly that the issue of Immigration deferrals was to be handled or adjudicated by the AG. This was an issue designed to show that the President had overstepped his legal authority. The section of law that Vitter used was on proud display. The truth was that the law had been changed by statute in 2002. This statute called for Immigration deferrals to be handled by the Department of Homeland Defense. The story was covered by few in the mainstream media, Media Matters did a good job in pointing out the truth.
