‘we did- several times’, is what jim would like to say. but this is all new territory. he’d allowed his own open dissatisfaction to grow (and oh how it had grown), but... making the very purposeful to move to destroy ‘them’ was new. on uneven ground because of his own actions, he chooses to stay quiet, watching john move about his study (entirely his space, though not for much longer-), with a practiced ease.
that’s not what he wants to see. but he’s unable to push the glass to crack without being seen through (because john would see; call him on throwing a tantrum because he isn’t getting what he wants), and oh, how that has him.
❛ look at me. ❜ now, they both know it’s an act. john thinks it’s an act now, he’s sure- jim’s only half-sure anymore, but he doesn’t let that stop him. ❛ do you hate me? ❜ jim presses where he’s allowed to press and still look innocent. is he pressing buttons because he’s curious what will work or because... ?
