Why does it feel like: "he was their friend" has slowly morphed into: "he therefore had no negative sides before he turned traitor, and we need to give him lots of love."

Like... Peter was always cruel. He loved seeing James and Sirius bully Snape. He was attracted to James and Sirius because they were bullies. Peter wasn't kind then turned bad. The marauders were unkind and cruel, but the difference was that fundamentally James and Sirius grew up to be good people. Peter grew up to seek more power and more cruelty and more protection.

I don't feel particularly strongly about his need to be loved by the fandom. I hate him. Lily and James are dead because of him. Sirius was in prison for 12 years because of him. Harry grew up with no love for ten years, because of him. Let me hate him.

I don't have to like him to make sure to write him as a good friend of the boys. Made a lot easier by not writing wolfstar, admittedly.

I’ve been journaling so fucking much.

No thoughts if I haven’t framed it into sentences. Currently reflecting on the last two major times I was hanging out w E’s two different friend groups, all joyous and goofy and gay and fun people I like a lot, and how on the outside of it all I felt, and how hard I was trying to be good, not weird or shy or awkward or a loner. Early on E told me about how she and her ex would get into fights about being separated whenever they went out, how her ex hated that she was talking to other people instead of her and left her alone. And ofc when it’s presented that way it seems irrational. You should go talk to other people when you’re out with a group, why would you just talk to your partner? But the reason E felt we had nothing in common anymore was part because we didn’t have shared friends and I wanted to tear my hair out because she would never invite me out! She would say how it was so much stress for her to try and bridge the gaps between me and medical students, and if she invited me she would have to do all this emotional labor because I don’t have anything to add to the convo when medical students can only ever talk about school and hospital and medicine. She said the same thing about her 21st bday, how stressful it was merging friend groups. There’s a point to all of this hold on where am I going with it. I mean. I get what her ex was feeling. When she’s in her group she plays the heel so well, gets so high energy and goofy and loves to bait people into laughing at her. And then does on the flip feel hurt when she feels some of her friends don’t take her seriously, or think she’s serious about being a doctor, or knows things about medicine. Whole time. I kinda do feel abandoned, to be so honest. I did feel like I was on the outside of the group when we were in Miami, and they were all having this profound experience of friendship and love and I was like. Well I’m here and I think you like me ? I love to sit back and observe and make snarky side comments and so that made dating the big energy center of the room girl very fun to be with because I could sit back and watch her put on a show. Sigh. Where was this going. I have so much insight into this woman! And such a fragmented sense of myself. Just remembering these echos of. I was trying really hard to be good…
