Tomorrow is garbage pickup day. The kids took the garbage out and put new bags in the cans. We use plastic shopping bags for the small cans in bedrooms and the bathroom. I noticed this bag in the can in my bedroom as I was getting ready for bed tonight. What year is this again? My dad was just asking me what my best friend and I talk about at lunch, and I couldn't think of a good answer. We mostly talk about fandoms, so I eventually told him that. He looked at me like "what the heck are fandoms?" So I tried to explain. I told him it's when you're really into something, you belong to the fandom, like a kingdom where you worship the "rulers" but with fans. He thoughtI meant 'belong' as in on an internet site. He doesn't like me giving out any personal info on the internet, and I tried to tell him that a fandom isn't completely on the internet. He didn't believe me and is now really confused. He have me one last look, turned around and walked out of my room. He called back to me "I really don't get you kids." I think I broke my dad. I've confused him too much with the "new math" and "common core". I realized, I can't explain what a fandom is, you just know. You feel it. A fandom is a fandom, simple as that.
