REFLECTION Week 1 & 2: Parabolas and Ellipses

Dealing with the first two weeks of online classes was challenging. I was quite nervous at first to learn Math all by myself but as I go on, I realized that I only need discipline to overcome it.

I think of one my strengths is that I am time-oriented because I follow my study schedule and I finish assignments and quizzes ahead of time. Aside from that I can also learn and study the learning guides by myself and I only ask for help when I need it. However, my weakness is that I am easily distracted. 

At first, I was intimidated by the number of learning guides per topic and the topics themselves because I am not familiar with them (except for parabolas). Although I’ve heard the term conic sections before, I wasn’t really familiar with what the topic deals with. Scanning through the modules or learning guides made me more intimidated because of the “complex” equations and theorems I saw. But as I go through and study it extensively, I found the topic very interesting and fun. I would say I did pretty well understanding the concept of parabolas and ellipses. I had some mistakes while dealing with the exercises but they helped me understand the topic better.

7/17/17 - So much for posting every day. Saturday I worked on some simple triple integrals and got a much better feel for setting up bounds. Sunday I started reading up on precalc from the Princeton MGRE review book and learned a new theorem on polynomials. Today I continued with that material and reviewed conic sections.
