new hollow knight oc their name is vedra and the yellow faced bumblebee theyre holding onto is meren (more rambles & pics under cut)

i dont really mind myself taking a few liberties with how vedra and meren fit into the preexisting lore of hallownest so take things with a grain of salt i guess ^_^ if it sounds only questionably possible for a vessel thats bc it is and i dont care :] ok thank u for reading

vedra escaped from the abyss and then hallownest entirely sometime between the hollow knights sealing within the black egg and the ghosts return to hallownest and lives in a neighboring kingdom(not really a kingdom but i cant think of a better work atm) and was found and subsequently adopted by a hive of bumblebees which is where meren comes in ! 

admittedly i did more thinking about meren & the hive then vedras origin and make but thats only because theres more to get into with real life bugs . meren and the rest of the hive are yellow faced bumblebees that i have borrowed some social behaviors from a different species of bumblebee(bombus atratus) so that merens hive can have more than one queen . as it stands meren is one of three queens with the others being sort of her sister-analogue familial figures , with meren being the middlest ! i havent drawn up the other two yet but the eldest is missing an arm and has an undecided name that starts with r .

just a little fun tidbit , i came up with merens name but the name ‘vedra’ was suggested to me by a friend who has a conlang with vedra being a wordsmash of “leaf on head” but translated into said conlang

OH MY GOD THE LITTLE EINSTEINS INTRO CATERPILLAR NIGHTMARE? YOU TOO??

YOU ALSO HAD THIS?? this shit traumatized me on god i adored baby einsteins as a kid but after i started having that nightmare i had to start closing my eyes and plugging my ears while it was on screen because it terrified me so much. did it also start as the normal intro but then it turned to face the camera (first person) with an evil smile. i need to compare our haunting childhood baby einsteins caterpillar nightmares
