He’s quick to notice when somethings off with you, so it doesn’t take long for him to go all out on care mode
Will ask how you’re feeling, already gently putting his palm on your forehead to feel your temperature
Honestly due to his line of work you can see him breathing out in relief when he’s sure that you’re ill and that your symptoms don’t come from anything else
He would absolutely fight ghosts and demons alike for you but he’s glad that this enemy can be beaten by some rest and meds
Will make you sit down with your favorite movie, gently but firmly demanding you sit there while he’s taking care of ‚husband stuff‘ in the kitchen
Tries to make your favorite dish but.. well he isn’t as great of a cook as he is an exorcist so..
Eventually after some time he will emerge again with a cup of tea and some soup
Jokingly makes you say ‚aah‘ for him to spoon feed you, smiling like a dork
While you drink your tea he rubs your back and asks if there’s anything you needed to do today so he’ll take care of it
The kind of guy who won’t hold back from kissing you even when you tell him not to because he‘ll get sick too
Will probably be ill as well a week after but it was worth it

*******
It was night again before you knew it. The plan that Ed and Lorraine had would begin soon. You sat in one of the pews and prayed.
Your foster family brought you to church every Sunday, but you never took it too seriously. But you thought you’d be stupid if you didn’t believe in all of that stuff by then.
Apparently, you were praying very excitedly. As in, you were praying like your life depended on it (which it probably did).
Lorraine came to sit next to you. “You don’t pray often, do you?” she guessed. She didn’t need any clairvoyance to know the answer.
You shook your head.
She smiled, “Well technically, you can pray however you want, but you don’t have to pray with that much distress in order for it to work. How about we calm down a bit?” Mrs. Warren folded her hands in preparation for prayer.
To mirror her, you straightened up in your seat.
Lorraine tried her best to hide the grin that came to her from the sight of you copying her. “What would you like to say?”
“I don’t know,” you honestly responded, “I was sort of just saying whatever came to mind.”
She chuckled, “How about we start with a prayer that already has words to it?”
You nodded.
Together, you and Lorraine Warren recited ‘Our Father.’
After the two of you finished, Lorraine continued, “God, we thank you for looking after us and those which we love. During this next few trying hours, we ask you to watch over us, and to help us along the way...And as always, I ask you to watch over Judy while Ed and I are away. Amen.”
“Who’s Judy?” you asked as you named the Holy Trinity in your head.
Lorraine happily answered, “She’s our daughter. Our girl’s 10 years old. Almost as old as you.”
“Where is she now?” you questioned.
Mrs. Warren looked as if she was in her memories, remembering the last time she and her husband were with their daughter. “She’s back home in Connecticut with her babysitter.”
“That’s good,” you commented, “I’m glad she has someone with her.”
She wistfully agreed, “I’m glad, too.”
Then, Ed entered the nave to inform, “Lorraine, we’re ready to get started. Are you ready, Y/n?”
Looking to Lorraine for that encouraging smile she seemed to always have, you nodded.
Slowly, you made your way to the front door of the church. Another deep breath, and you took a step outside.
“Okay, I’m ready,” you called out, “I want to join you.”
There was no response.
“Show yourself!” you shouted to the air.
Wind started picking up. Your hair blew back with it. Quickly, the wind began moving so much you had to shut your eyes.
Then, it stopped. The wind stopped so abruptly that you almost fell down the cement stairs outside of the church.
Opening your eyes, you saw a figure crouching in the shadows. It obviously wasn’t human. You could tell by certain features and the position it was in.
“What’s your name?” Your voice shook as you spoke.
Instead of speaking with its voice, the figure used its telepathic connection with you to communicate. “Look at you. You’ve grown into a very powerful being. I knew I did well by bringing you into existence.”
“What’s your name?” you repeated.
Still, it didn’t give you an answer. “My name isn’t important. It’s you who we’re talking about, Y/n.”
Hearing it sound your name caused a chill to run down your spine.
It continued, “I know you don’t really want to join me, Y/n.” It started to crawl closer to you. “Now, tell me. What was the real reason you called me out to a church at midnight. Would it possibly have something to do with these new Warren friends of yours?”
Just then, Ed stepped out from behind some bushes with Lorraine at his back. Ed started reciting a chant in Latin that was supposed to keep the demon from getting away.
Surprisingly, the demon leaped 20 yards to you. It tackled you to the ground, and tried throwing up in your mouth. Ed and Lorraine had told you that that was how demons possessed people. Somehow, you managed to close your mouth before any of the gunk could enter you.
The demon, now on top of you, was terrifying. It wouldn’t stop screaming, and it kept moving around in a completely inhuman manner. You fought the thing for a few moments, and eventually pulled yourself into the church using your telekinetic abilities. The demon rode on top of you until you crossed the threshold. Then, it was slammed into what looked like an invisible wall. You immediately got to your feet and watched as the demon threw its almost-fists against the wall in an attempt to get to you.
After a few seconds, it just growled at you. Then, it threw its head in the direction of Ed and Lorraine. It jumped out of your view and went after them. You heard Lorraine scream.
Of course, your first instinct was to run after them. Just as you got to the threshold, however, you were pulled back. It was Father Perez.
He cautioned, “Don’t. It’s angry now. If you go out there, it probably won’t let you back in.”
Barely thinking about it, you moved the priest’s hand from your shoulder and ran outside.
Around the back of the building, you found the Warrens and the demon. Lorraine seemed to have been knocked out since she was laying, unconscious, some distance away. Ed, on the other hand, was trapped under the demon. You could see the demon opening its mouth, and you could tell that it was to throw up.
You reached out with your hand and used your powers to stop the throw-up midair. You threw the gunk out of the way, pushed the demon off of Ed and onto the ground, and you held it there.
This demon was a lot stronger than the first one you fought. This one fought back. You were knocked about fifteen feet back and you hit your head on the ground. Luckily, it was just grass, so it didn’t hurt too much.
Daddy Dearest (more like Daddy Demon) started chasing after you. You got back around to the front of the church, but when you turned the corner, the demon surprised you. Suddenly, your vision started blacking out, and your throat was closing up.
After some time of that, you felt like you were finished. All of your fighting wasn’t doing anything, so you thought about giving up. What would death be like ? Would you go to heaven, or hell?
No, you thought. You had one more trick up your sleeve.
“Are you there, God? It’s me, Y/n,” you silently prayed. “I don’t know if you’re on my side because of my demon dad, but by any chance, could you help me out? I don’t know...maybe give me a sign or something? If it wasn’t already obvious, I don’t really consider this thing to be my father. Actually, if anything, the Warrens have been more a family to me than anyone ever has before. Honestly, I don’t know what I would’ve done if I did meet the Warrens. Wait...is there any chance that they are the sign? I know it seems far fetched, but that’s usually how you work, right?...Okay, okay. I can do this. Um...wish me luck?”
With new determination, you took deep breaths (well, as deep as you could manage with your throat being squeezed shut), and started to center your power to your core. You thought about Ed and Lorraine, and how they had looked after you in the previous couple days. You thought about God, and how he might just have your back.
Then, you started fighting again. It felt like you were fighting against a heavy fog that was trying to suffocate you. The longer you fought it, the more tangible it became. That scared you, but you never stopped fighting.
Eventually, it felt like you slipped out from under it. Your next memory was puking upwards and back into the demon’s mouth. Because of the demon’s surprise at your sudden action, you were able to push it off of you. You ran toward the doors of the church.
You felt the demon coming after you, so you abruptly turned and pushed it back with your abilities. Call it adrenaline but by then it was a lot easier to use your powers against the demon. However, the demon would not give up that easily.
Every time it took a step closer to you, you took a step back. Suddenly the demon got a surge of energy, causing it to lunge several more steps towards you. You took as many backward steps as you could in that short period of time.
Unlucky for the demon, those few final steps brought you over the church’s threshold. The demon accidentally followed you into the holy building. When the demon willingly stepped over the threshold, it caught fire, and started to burn up. Within a few seconds, it was completely gone. You had defeated the thing that had created you.
From behind you, Father Perez gasped, “Heavenly Father...you did it. You did it!” he then exclaimed out of sheer happiness.
The Warrens then appeared and stepped over the threshold of the church. They went to hug you.
When you saw Lorraine, you immediately asked her, “Are you okay? Did you hurt your head?”
She shook her head appreciatively. “No, I’m fine. It just overwhelmed my senses. I’m alright.”
Ed chuckled, “And it’s us who should be worried about you. Are you hurt? Did that thing hurt you?”
“Well...yeah,” you shrugged, “I was fighting a demon.”
The married couple shared a look.
Mrs. Warren regretfully informed you, “Y/n, we saw you get possessed.”
“That’s what that was?” Your eyes widened, but more out of surprise than terror.
Ed Warren wondered, “No one has ever been able to stop themselves from being possessed. How did you fight it? How did you win?”
“I guess God was on my side,” you smiled at Lorraine.
She smiled back.
***
After that, Father Perez, the Warrens, and yourself were confused about what to do with you. You were half demon, after all.
Father Perez offered to take you in, but so did the Warrens. Eventually you all decided that you would go live with Ed, Lorraine, and their daughter. This was because the Warrens felt they would be able to take care of you and keep your abilities a secret while also providing you with a sense of a normal family. Lorraine was also the best suited for teaching you about how to explore your abilities. Father Perez cheerfully agreed, as he saw and understood the bond you shared with the Warrens.
A few days after the incident, Father Perez got word of Father Christopher’s church. It had in fact burned down, and there were no survivors. Apparently, since the church was no longer holy ground, your demon father must’ve gotten in. It must’ve been pissed, so it burned down the church in retaliation.
If nothing else, this would mean your powers would be kept a secret.
To make the living situation with the Warrens actually happen, a lot of other things needed to happen first. You had to go back to your foster home, as well as pass you absence off as you running away, for two examples. You also had to wait for the commotion from social services to die down (because that was bound to happen with a report coming in of a child running away). Once all that was over, the Warrens would come for you.
They adopted you six months later.
Suddenly, you had a mom, a dad, and a younger sister. Somehow, that was scarier to you than fighting that demon. You didn’t know how to act around them for a long time.
Things got easier with time. You learned how to control your powers, and you got closer with all three of the Warrens. Finally, you felt like you were part of something--a family.

*******
For clear reasons, you didn’t want to get out of the car. The Warrens had taken you to another church. The new one was in Santa Monica, about 10 miles away from your foster home.
The Warrens had explained to you why they thought the next priest would be different. The church organization as a whole had never dealt with someone like you before. Part of Father Christopher’s job was to protect, and he saw you as a threat to that which he was protecting. Ed and Lorraine promised you that the priest in Santa Monica, Father Perez, would not jump to violence nearly as quickly as Father Christopher. However, you still did not want to get out of the car.
In an attempt to convince you, Ed crouched down next to the car. “Y/n, listen. At least one of us, if not both myself and Lorraine will be at your side. We won’t let anyone hurt you. If anything happens, we’ll get you out of there. Please, Father Perez might be able to help.”
For a few moments, you glanced between Ed and Lorraine. You were looking for any sign of betrayal, but you couldn’t find any. Finally, you got out of the car.
When you got up to the front doors of the church, you stopped. The whispering you had heard your whole life was back. It was louder than it had ever been before. The whispering was telling you not to go into the the church. Strangely, there was not whispering when you were entering the previous church.
Ed and Lorraine noticed your pause. Lorraine knelt down and asked you if anything was wrong.
Of course, you told them everything.
The couple were alarmed. Ed crouched down to Lorraine’s level. Lorraine explained, “Sweetheart, that’s probably your biological father talking to you.”
“The demon?” you breathed.
She nodded, “Churches are supposed to be safe places. The demon most likely doesn’t want you to go in here because then it can’t get to you. You probably didn’t hear the voices outside of Father Christopher’s church because the demon knew what Father Christopher would try to do to you, which would make the church hallowed ground no longer. When Father Christopher didn’t succeed, the demon must have burnt down the church in anger.”
“But what if the demon does the same thing here?” you meekly wondered.
Ed clarified, “This church is still hallowed ground. We know a lot about Father Perez and he would never try the same thing Father Christopher did.”
You turned back toward the door. The closer you got to the door, the louder the whispering got. You closed your eyes, took a deep breath, and stepped over the threshold.
The whispering quieted. You were finally alone in your mind.
An older man with his back facing you stood near the alter. It was Father Perez. Ed respectfully got the priest’s attention.
Lorraine apologized, “We’re sorry if we’re bothering you, Father. I’m Lorraine Warren, and this is my husband, Ed. By any chance, have you heard of us?”
Father Perez was clearly surprised by his new guests. “Yes, of course,” he answered, “You two have done remarkable things for the church.”
After shaking the priest’s hand, Ed pronounced, “We’ve heard the same about you, Father. That’s why we’re here.”
Mrs. Warren continued, “We didn’t know who we could trust.”
The minister was clearly startled by the news. “Come,” he urged, “We can talk more freely in my office.”
***
“So what do I do now? How do I get rid of it?” you asked once Ed and Lorraine explained your situation to Father Perez.
He thought for a moment. “I don’t think there is a way for you to rid yourself of your abilities. But I also don’t think it is necessary for you to do so. Undoubtedly, this is a unique situation. I apologize for Father Christopher. The man sounded to be scared, and so he acted irrationally. So irrationally, I’m afraid his church can no longer be considered holy ground because of his actions. I can promise you I will not be following in his footsteps. In fact, I believe that with determination and practice, there might come a day that you can control these new abilities.”
“...What about the whispers? Do I have to learn to control those, too?” The thought upset you.
Father Perez seemed more hesitant then. He looked to the Warrens. “I believe the best course of action is to find the demon and banish it back to hell. If not...I’m afraid that the voice could get worse until the point where Y/n either joins the demon or--”
“I kill myself,” you finished with a tinge of disbelief in your voice.
The priest confirmed, “I’m afraid so.”
Ed consoled you, “Well, it’s a good thing you have us. This is what we do, Y/n. We’ll keep you safe.”
Lorraine nodded in resolute agreement with her husband before turning back to the minister. “But why now? Why did Y/n only start experiencing their powers yesterday?”
Furrowing his brow, Father Perez inquired, “How old are you, Y/n?”
“Twelve,” you answered, confused by the question.
Realization washed over the clairvoyant. “It could be a mockery of the bible. Twelve is considered to be the perfect number in God’s eyes. When was your birthday?”
“Last week,” you responded.
Mr. Warren cut in, “That explains it. There wasn’t any trigger for Y/n to use their powers until yesterday.”
As Ed and Lorraine planned on what to do about your biological demon father, Father Perez caught your eye. He wished you a happy birthday. Despite the situation your birthday brought you that year, Father Perez’s words made you smile.
You put your focus back on Ed and Lorraine. They were disagreeing on something.
Ed shook his head. “I don’t like it.”
His wife sighed, “Neither do I, but if we don’t act now, Y/n might be lost for good.”
“What is it?” you asked, “What are you guys talking about?”
Both of the Warrens looked at you. Ed took a deep breath before he explained, “We have a plan...but it is dangerous...”
Lorraine finished for her husband. “It’s possible you could get hurt.”
“But the demon will go away?” you optimistically inquired.
She cautioned, “If our plan works, yes.”
“Okay,” you agreed after some thought, “Yeah, let’s do it.”

When the three of you got to the church, it was still dark and raining. Lorraine and Ed led you inside.
“And who would this be?” a priest put on the usual tone an adult had when meeting a new kid while he approached you.
Once Ed and Lorraine introduced you and Father Christopher, Lorraine went to speak to the priest privately while Ed waited with you in a couple of chairs out in the hallway.
The demonologist gently inquired, “So Y/n, have you had any previous experiences similar to tonight?”
A round of thunder boomed through the air.
“...I don’t know,” you hesitantly responded, “Nothing like that has ever happened to me...but...I always felt different from everyone else. It’s hard to explain. I just never felt entirely...” You trailed off. Maybe it was because you didn’t know the precise word, or maybe it was because you were scared of it.
Thankfully or not, Ed finished for you. “Human?”
All you could do was nod.
Suddenly, everything was happening a lot faster. Too fast. The door was opened, and you and Ed saw Lorraine struggling against two men holding her arms. Ed launched to his feet and began shouting for Lorraine to be let go. Father Christopher walked out of the room. He started chanting something in a language you didn’t recognize. For some reason, you started to feel very weak. Father Christopher dragged you away from Ed. You barely registered Ed being hesitant about going after you or Lorraine, then him choosing you.
When you next woke up, it felt like you were on fire. You couldn’t breathe. The only thing you could think of doing was begging for whatever was happening to stop.
Then, you were pulled from the fire. It was Ed. He had you in his arms and he was running from Father Christopher. Ed hid you in a spot in the nearby woods before going back for Lorraine. He told you not to move, and you were too weak to try otherwise.
Ed was gone for a while. During the time that you were alone, you listened to the quiet sounds of the forest. It was then that you heard the all-too-familiar whispers. They were saying that they missed you and that they couldn’t wait to see you. The sound sent a chill down your spine and made you feel unsafe.
Lorraine appeared and led you to where Ed was with the car. Soon, you were being driven away from where you almost died.
You peered out the back window and saw the church burning down.

Summary: One night, you come out of a trance to an unfamiliar couple and a strange series of events.

The whispers stopped. A flash of lightning ripped through the air as you broke out of what seemed to be a trance. You had no idea where you were. It was raining, and you were drenched.
Before you could even get your bearings, a couple came running out of a secluded house. It was the only structure around for miles. The man and woman came running up to you. They were obviously concerned about you being there.
“Go! Get out of here!” the man yelled out to you first.
When the two finally got to you, the woman took hold of your shoulders. “Darling! What are you doing out here? It isn’t safe!”
Just then, all of the windows of the house blew out. The couple stood in front of you, ordering you to stay behind them.
However, you felt yourself walking toward the house instead. The whispers started up again. You also heard the man yelling after you, but you also heard the woman stop him from chasing after you.
Next thing you knew, you were in the house. Everything was in and out of focus after that. The only thing that stayed constant was how loud the whispers were. You saw you were fighting something without touching it. It didn’t register in you at the time how extraordinary that was.
When you woke up, you were laying in the destruction of the house. The couple were with you. They kept asking if you were okay.
Deciding to start with the easier questions, you first asked, “Who are you?”
The man answered, “I’m Ed, and this is my wife, Lorraine.”
Lorraine then inquired, “What’s your name?”
Once you gave that, you struggled with what to say next. “I...how...” you were still very disconcerted from whatever had just happened.
Before you could pass out again, Lorraine asked more questions. “Where’d you come from, baby? Where are your parents?”
“Foster family...Hammerfords...I don’t...know...” You tried to say more, but you were so tired. You felt as if you were melting into the ground.
The next time you were conscious, you felt that you were in the back of a car. You were too tired to open your eyes then. While you laid there, you heard Ed and Lorraine talking.
“I’ve never felt anything like it, Ed,” Lorraine explained with a disbelieving tone in her voice. “I didn’t notice it at first because of the demon, but once that was gone...they overpowered all of my senses. Ed...I can’t even tell if they’re good or evil.”
Ed sounded confused as you were scared. “Evil? But they seem human.”
“I know,” Lorraine agreed, “But they walked in there and cast that thing back into hell within five minutes. Honestly, I feel something demonic coming from.”
Your eyes snapped open as Ed asked, “Are they safe to have with us?”
She was silent for a moment before responding, “I think so. I do feel something inhuman coming from them, but something else tells me that they don’t want to hurt anyone. I know that there’s a mixture in them. I just don’t know which one there’s more of: good or evil.”
“Are you guys kidnapping me?”
The couple was alarmed that you were awake already.
Ed answered bluntly, “No, we’re not kidnapping you.”
Lorraine continued for her husband, “We’re just taking you to visit a church. We have friends there who can help you.”
“Help me? What do I need help with?”
They both went quiet.
Ed asked, “Y/n, what do you remember?”
You told them the truth, that most of it was very foggy. Then, you realized what they were talking about. You fight that...thing. Understandably, you started to freak out.
Ed and Lorraine tried their best to calm you back down.
Lorraine tried to relate with you. “Y/n sweetie, you have to breathe. I know how you feel. I, too, have a gift.”
“Can your gift hurt people?” You guessed the correct answer.
Ed jumped in, “You’re not going to hurt anyone. Just breathe. The church can help. We’ll be there in a few minutes. Just breathe.”
