no offense to literally every other team in the nhl and i know sometimes you can’t help it but if i were playing against a team that has a power play with both leon draisaitl and connor mcdavid on it, i would simply just. not commit penalties. i would not do it.

oh man. okay, first of all, connor with a beard looks incredibly like a friend of mine and any time he’s on my dash i’m like JOSH?!? IS THAT YOU?!? but alas it is not the guy who peeled a hundred potatoes for our families’ combined thanksgiving and is currently living on a farm in montana wait i just checked his wife’s insta and apparently they’re in michigan, good for them. this does not have anything to do with it but it’s been bothering me for weeks. although connor would almost definitely peel a hundred potatoes if asked, i think, purely because he would be mortified to say no. soothing image.

anyway, every time i try and think about them, all i can think of is the feeling when it’s a dreary day and you come in out of the cold to curl up under a nice thick blanket with your loved one, human or pet. just warmth and contentment and, yeah, tiredness but it’s all okay when you’re together.

this is all purely speculation of course, but i super think that connor is a very anxious person, for a lot of reasons, and leon is just so steady and calming when he needs to be. he seems to have a good balance between supportive and take-no-shit, which connor needs (i’m gonna stop saying ‘seems’ or ‘appears’ now bc i’m bored, just assume it’s there. this is rpf after all). they’re good enough at hockey separately to egg each other on and make each other better when they play together, which seems to be connor’s ideal way to be on a line (lookin at u dylan). like i said in these tags, he just needs someone to love and be loved by unconditionally, which makes sense bc i can’t imagine it’s easy being the next (ad nauseum) one.

i’d like to imagine that when things get really bad, leon looks at connor and realises things could be worse, which sounds terrible of me maybe, but leon goes on to make it better. he scores or he teases or w/e and it presses both of them to cheer up!! idk if this is true but it feels true to me!!! not to use a hockey-ism but they truly do centre each other, like, emotionally.

this is probably not what you were looking for (sorry) but i get lulled into just a nice sense of contentment when i think abt them. a lot of this is taken from the wonderful things @lovedyouless puts on my dash (the queen of connorleon fics imho) (also hi i love being back in the same fandom to enjoy your writing again). i just think they’re neat dot gif and also this line from heartbreak weather is them:
