Who from dorne will be joining the aevalon entourage to essos? It would be wonderful to see arianne and oberyn and their respective children interacting with Jon and his family.
Only Sarella. Dorne is an independent kingdom and a power in its own right, so there’s no expectation they would follow the white dragons into the empire.
The Martells will beat them the rest there as it turns out. By the time Jon and Sansa arrive at Summerhall, the Princess of Dorne and her family will have settled in enough to be on hand to greet their allies from Aevalon.
So that be Princess Arianne, Viserys (royal consort), Nymora (daughter), and Arion (son).
Myrcella let her eyes roam out the tower window at the handsome city stretching out below. There was much to take in. Roads of cobbled stones, bustling markets, great golden manses, and a thriving port upon a tranquil sea of blue. The harbor was busy, packed with scores of ships. More than common if her memory served, yet less than there had been when her galley had first arrived. It seemed many had slipped away in the meanwhile.
The docks could not keep her attention. Not when she could spy out the massive, mountainous form of Casterly Rock visible even at this great distance.
The Rock. The ancient fortress of the Kings of the Rock. The seat of House Lannister.
And the last place in the world she wished to be.
My wishes change nothing. Before I can ever think of returning to my home, I needs journey to my parents’.
Her nervousness at doing so had worsened during the lengthy wait at the port city. Three days now her northern had been kept waiting in Lannisport. Guests to the Lannisters of Lannisport.
Upon her surprise arrival, it had fallen to her distant kin to host the Queen of the North. The Lantells, the Lannys, the Lanetts, all relations she barely remembered from another life, all falling over themselves to host her in their halls or toast her at feasts.
Yet not a hint of the family she had come to seek. The royal family of Lannister remained ensconced in the Rock. Her grandfather undoubtedly knew of their arrival, yet had not yet deigned to invite her on to his court. Perhaps King Tywin was trying to put her in her place. To remind Myrcella, that queen or not, his crown was the supreme power in the west.
We’ve wasted enough time on his pride. One way or another, the old lion will take notice of us.
“Your Grace, Ser Loreon Lannister is without,” Septa Eglantine declared in an urgent manner and Myrcella turned to face her old teacher.
The septa was just one of many gathered in the guest tower of Ser Loreon’s keep. Standing near the door were Ser Olyvar Frey and Ser Alyn the Red. To her right was Alyn’s wife and Myrcella’s most trusted friend, Joy Hill. Her cousin had grown up in the west and that insight made Joy a fine choice as a queen’s lady. Others might disagree, much like the only other lady in the room had. The Lady Barbrey Dustin sat upon a large chair, dressed in distinctive northern greys, her older face bearing a sour expression. An unwilling participant in this quest, Lady Dustin displayed a special sort of scorn for Myrcella.
Despite herself, Myrcella felt increasingly unnerved by Barbrey’s demeanor. It reminded her far too much of her mother.
Dismissal and disappointment, those are nothing new.
They’ve not defeated you yet.
“Your Grace, please,” the septa acted quite out of sorts. “Turning away servants and stewards is one thing. Yet the head of House Lannister of Lannisport is to be afforded more respect. Allow him to address you as a host.”
“If I act a poor guest it is because the ser is not the host I seek,” she decreed. “Olyvar, go with Eglantine. Repeat to Ser Loreon that I shall not be attending any further occasions. We will take our meals here and should he disagree, he will have insulted a Queen of Winter and we will depart back to our ship. He should be sure to inform Casterly Rock of the embarrassment he risks either way.”
“Yes, my queen,” Olyvar replied, the Frey knight smiling as he went forth to insult their Lannister host.
Been getting a decent amount of asks about The Conquest so I’m going to answer a bunch now.
Prepare to be underwhelmed!
Anonymous said: Hope it's ok to ask, who will be the POV'S for the next chapter of The Conquest?
The Ch.15 POVs will be Jon and Sansa in the empire and Myrcella in the Westerlands. Brace yourselves for a more indepth look at Summerhall and my take on the courts of Volantis and Casterly Rock.
Anonymous said: I'm wrong when I think that Conquest will be shorter than AKT or Choices? I really have that feeling
You wrong. Conquest will definitely be shorter than Fate and AKW. The fic is more than half done and the plan has always been for it to be a shorter work. Well, shorter for me.
Anonymous said: Hey edd, just saw your reply to the conquest question, is jar wei from the sea-green dynasty of Yi Ti? And is Yi Ti going to play a role in the empire?
There does appear to a similarity between Jar Wei’s name and that line of god-emperors. The sea-green dynasty was deposed but there’s nothing to say it went extinct. More about Wei will be revealed in the update, the same goes for Yi Ti. I’ve wanted to tackle the Golden Empire for a long time and The Conquest is the best suited for me to introduce my take on it. Wei is my gateway for doing so.
Anonymous said: Do you have any love interests planned for the Dragon's Darling?
That I do. All of of them will have been introduced by the next update. I’m not naming names though. Not yet. I can say there will be a lot of politicking going on regarding any potential matches with the twins. Some turmoil too. Aenry might be the stated heir but the Dragons Darling are important symbols for their parents’ kingdom.
Something Rhaegina and Aemma are fully aware of themselves.
Saw the preview for conquest! Any chance we'll be seeing some new OCs at Summerhall?
That’s a definite.
Jon and Sansa’s family aren’t the only ones visiting Summerhall. Arianne and Viserys will be there to greet them with their children, Nymora and Arion. Both will be important in the story ahead.
We’ll also be meeting Jaehaerys and Rhaella, Aegon’s children by Nym, and a character named Jar Wei. He’s my first attempt at bringing Yi Ti and the Golden Empire into a fic. His role in regards to another OC, Baelyon, is going to be something special.
For canon junkies, there’s a big hint to Jar Wei’s importance in his name.
