ConsejoSano, Lyft agree to partnership, aim to improve healthcare access for underserved populations

Yesterday, California-based ConsejoSano, a patient engagement platform which helps connect payers, providers and health systems with their multicultural underserved and Medicare patient populations, announced a partnership with popular ridesharing company Lyft.
Through the partnership, healthcare companies using the ConsejoSano platform can schedule on-demand, non-emergency Lyft transportation for patients to help improve healthcare access among Medicare and underserved populations. The first rollout of the partnership will begin with federally qualified health center (FQHC) Borrego Health, and expand nationwide thereafter.
"ConsejoSano has a deep understanding of how these patients struggle to access care due to a lack of efficient transportation. We're excited to work with Lyft to help improve the issue and rollout first to Borrego Health," said ConsejoSano founder and CEO Abner Mason.
ConsejoSano is a leading innovator in Medicare/Medicaid technology. It offers the industry's first true multicultural, multilingual patient engagement platform to help payers, providers and health systems reach patients in a culturally relevant way that increases engagement, lowers costs and improves health outcomes. Today, the company serves over 300,000 patients. Lack of dependable, on-demand and safe transportation is a significant barrier to care for many of the low-income patients ConsejoSano serves. The ConsejoSano partnership with Lyft will reduce this barrier by providing these patients with a consumer-friendly transportation benefit.
"Our partnership with ConsejoSano is part of Lyft's continued commitment to reduce the healthcare transportation gap by 50% by 2020," said Gyre Renwick, VP of Lyft Business. "ConsejoSano's dedication to provide access to underserved communities directly aligns with this effort, and we're excited to work with them to reach towards our goal."
Borrego Health is the fifth largest FQHC in the nation and second largest in California, with 22 clinics and five mobile units serving over 950,000 visits to primarily low-income patients annually. In addition to enabling Borrego Health to schedule on-demand, non-emergency Lyft rides for its patients through the ConsejoSano platform, ConsejoSano provides the organization multicultural patient engagement solutions to help Borrego Health better serve patients.
ConsejoSano provides services to multicultural populations including English, Spanish, Arabic, Farsi, Mandarin, Cantonese, Armenian and Tagalog speakers.
