Have heard much lately in the msm about political 'cults' and the usage implies a negative context, so I thought a few words of explanation might be useful.
In sociological classifications, a cult is a religious or social group with socially deviant or novel beliefs and practices,
Other explanations include;
A relatively small group of people having religious beliefs or practices regarded by others as strange or imposing excessive control over members; the reader may speculate over to whom this could apply.
A misplaced or excessive admiration for a particular thing: ie 'the cult of the pursuit of money as an end in itself'A person or thing that is popular or fashionable among a particular group or section of society: ie 'the series has become a bit of a cult in the UK' in this view the term is less pejorative.

The Conservative. This is a poem to explain the Conservative cult, Because they run the mass media, you won't hear truth lest you further consult...
Devised with raw rhetoric they incite people to greed, Abandoning the less fortunate to unalleviated need. If you didn't care for your sick brother, elderly mother or children at school, Perhaps you'd care more for your own employers rule - Or once the air is polluted and foul beyond use, The crops, livestock and wherewithal ruined without valid excuse.. For human rights, employment rights and environment too, They're all obstacles in pursuit of money's hue. The pathways of plunder did never run clear - Obfuscation of your understanding is their tricky frontier.
Maybe you believed that their intention is pure, That a leg up the ladder will be given to the worthy, for sure. That the New Jerusalem here they shall build, Yet with zero hours contract - your life shall be spilled. If only you'd commit to their Austerity ways, Cut social housing and hospitals because privatisation pays... If only you'd support their weaponisation of terrors abroad, And demonise the homeless, disaffected and poor. Divide and rule I'm sure you know this, The tools of the Conservative are self interest -
Pathetic, Trite and Twaddle they say, As in marbled halls of privilege scheme they. Marshalling minions and legions of loons, To assault hard won freedoms with heartless platoons. Broadcasting with smokescreens to dazzle fiscal matters, Legislating favour for their golden platters. 'Dissolve the State' that is their mantra, Sell our community owned assets for loot - abracadabra. Tax havens and bonuses and expenses galore, The tax payer pays as he falls gasping to the floor. Hear their sound hissing like the wind on the hills, As rubbing their hands rustling, like thousands of bills. See their sleight of meaning as they quickly transform - Your wellness to illness and ruination is born.
The milk of human kindness has perhaps passed them by, Yet firm up your resolve, look to your history - ascry. If you will stand for nothing then believe as you will, The Conservative cult will bring your heart to standstill.
