*in an older western-style bar chatting to the (completely uninterested) bartender*

"y'know,.. i have this little problem called 'not being able to leave things the hell alone'. it's the reason why humble readers are still waitin' for the third chapter of my first ever fanfic." i swirl the melting ice in the near-empty glass of whisky I've been sipping on before placing it on the counter with a thunk.

"little do they know, I had meant to write it as a one shot!" I let out a sharp laugh with no humour in it. A sour look crosses my face and I let out a scoff. "then I had to go 'n write another chapter. it was good, too. i released it without a second thought." I lean back on the plush stool, crossing my arms with a heavy sigh.

"now, it's been over half a year and I haven't written a single word. it's not really my fault. the way i left it was so.. aimless." i throw my hands up in the air. "literally anything could happen! how am I supposed to continue on with the story if I don't even know where it's goin'? where it was goin' in the first place, even?? and it's not like i can just cut if off and call it done. it's incomplete!"

my hands wipe acoss my face, rubbing my temples before i regain composure. "honestly, I just wanna start somethin' else, but that unfinished piece lingers in my head. I thought about deleting the second chapter and just leaving it as a one shot, but the people loved it! If i got rid of it now, the cons would outweigh the pros.. guess i either gotta leave it or finish it one day."

"..so, y' gonna pay for that drink?"

"huh? oh, yeah.. here.."
