Constance is the older half-sister of Courtney Tenning. She is the eldest child of her parents. Constance’s father was enraged when he found out Courtney was the child of another man, and killed Constance and Courtney’s mother in a fit of violent anger, and Courtney’s father’s whereabouts are unknown.
Because Constance wasn’t old enough to move out and Courtney’s father was out of the picture, Constance’s aunt on her mother’s side took Constance and her sister and moved away from their birth state to Nockfell to have a chance at a new life away from their tragic family past.
Constance is a very independent, headstrong woman. She won't take anyone's shit, and would fight anyone regardless of wether or not she thinks she can win if they give her a reason to want to fight them. She acts aloof and calm to feel like she's in control.
She is incredibly protective of Courtney, and speaking badly of her is the fastest way to get Constance to break your nose. Despite her confrontational and occasionally aggressive behavior, she is a compassionate and patient person with those she likes. Her aggression stems from bullying she suffered through when she was younger. Eventually she got sick of it and fought back, and Constance promised herself she'd never let people push her around ever again. Trying to do so will result in a punch to the face. Her past experiences with bullying is also the main reason she fears for Courtney's safety and pressures her to hide what she is.
Constance feels most comfortable when she's in control of what's happening and when she's taking care of herself. She won't give up her independence easily. She responds negatively when people take care of her, but it's not for lack of liking or appreciating it. She just doesn't know how to respond. She also sometimes gets upset when people show her affection. Again, it's not because she doesn't like it. It reminds her of her mother, and that upsets her but she will warm up to it eventually. Constance doesn't know how to be vulnerable without feeling threatened.
Constance suffers from anxiety and chronic depression. When she was young, she bore witness to domestic violence and her mother and fathers fighting, and eventually, her mother's death. Constance tries to hide her anxiety and depression, feeling pressured to be strong for her sister, despite her suffering mental health. She has nightmares on occasion of her father. Constance battles suicidal urges, major depressive episodes and intense anxiety attacks. She hides all this for fear of people using these "weaknesses" to take advantage of her. —————————————————————————————– Constance is Courtney's older sister.
