"Alex, I’m fine.” The words were a whispered lie, Percy could still feel her heart racing. the dull ache from the discolored bruise painted across her cheekbones also contradicted her statement. big blue eyes glance up at her eldest sister, and she tried hard to make it look like she wasn’t seriously shaken. “It was just a m-” the word got caught in her throat, and it took another try to get it out smoothly. “It was just a mugging. All they got was my wallet, I’m fine.”

“ i- you- ” lexie fumbled for a moment, furrowing her eyebrows together as she tried to find the right words. “ it’s not- it’s not that simple. i can’t just- ” she shook her head. she couldn’t just tell mark that she was still in love with him, or just how much she missed him. it was all so messy, so complicated. “ molly, he’s with julia. ”

Rosalie was staring around her room in the PEDs ward, Arizona was really nice and had somehow justified to the chief to claim the room as “hers” even though she wasn’t a full time patient. It made those days and weeks, occasionally months where she did get admitted nicer.
On rounds that morning, Arizona told her that she would be getting a roommate, but it was one of their own’s kids. Rosalie could easily accept a roommate, it would potentially make the PEDs ward feel more comfortable. Her aunt had stopped in to be sure that she was okay with getting a roommate and reminding her that she had her dialysis treatment in the morning.
She watched as the nurses came in and rearranged her room to accommodate another bed. By late morning, everything was set up for Rosalie to have a roommate for the first time since she got sick. She was reading one of the medical journals she’d had one of the interns steal from her aunt’s office when she heard a knock announcing the arrival of hopefully a new friend. “Welcome to the only slice of heaven in the PEDs ward.”
