I knew his stuff was profound, but I was 15 when he showed up and I could only access little bits (echo... little bits) of him until the rise of youtube. Now it’s becoming apparent that Wady like Alex Jones is lashing out for being unrecognized for his greatness. Alex’s red face in Waking Life is Ninja’s persona in Die Antwoord. Payback is a bitch, or a sweet melody or anarchic rap in his case. Still, if this is where a South African has to go to dredge for national pride I stand with Watkin Tudor Jones and Anri Du Toit, no matter how Zef it may be.
MaxNormal.tv was a South African “alternative rap” group whose members later went on to form Die Antwoord.
