Loving your new Hazbin blog! I’m trying to read more Hazbin fics, still super-new to the fandom, so I’d love to hear about some of your favourites with the total biased aim of “I want more stuff to read”

TYSM!! I am also fairly new to the fandom lol but luckily I hyperfixate like there's no trmw :)

Full transparency; I am a major Vox fan so I like uhhh kinda mostly read murdermedia and staticmoth. But here are a few fics I've been enjoying lately!

⟢ Maybe Then He'll Chill Again by whotfisgeorge (@whotfisgeorge) Post S2 Vox fic where he gets sent to the Hazbin Hotel and by Velvette and Valentino in the hopes that Charlie can figure out what's up with him. Queue angst and some attempted redemption.

⟢ Kiss Me, Kill Me, Eyes On Me by letters_of_stars This is probably one of my favorite fics I've read lately and it's a classic murdermedia; Alastor and Vincent run into one another while hiding bodies and things happen from there.

⟢ Back to Basics by consultingcas (@consultingcas) Oh whoops, you probably already know this one... anyway for anyone else reading this, their fic is wonderful! Post S2 Vox tries to reform his body and accidentally turns himself back into a human instead. So the Hazbin Hotel accidentally acquires a new, strangely familiar, guest...

⟢ I'd Rather Take My Whisky Neat by Milky_Leaf Human Staticmoth! Vincent runs into Valentino while he's working a corner and asks how much a hug would cost, then begins paying for his time just to have someone to talk to. And I'm sure no one falls in love!

⟢ STATIC by Rustycookies (@mak3morn) This is a classic in the murdermedia community. After Vincent interrupts Alastor's attempt to summon a Demon, he ends up throwing out the life he'd built himself to help Alastor try again. Except Alastor is just using him... definitely. He definitely doesn't like Vincent at all.

⟢ The Rerun by corporate_hierophant Speaking of classics in the murdermedia community! The Might of Lilith detonates in S2 and Heaven sends Vox to an alternate version of his mortal life to try again. And do it right this time. Which means no killing people! Except this version of his life has Alastor in it... so a Vox with all his memories experiences from Hell ends up embroiled in the life of an Alastor who has no idea who he is.

⟢ Sharks In The Night by acareeroutofrobbingbanks This is a series of oneshots! Murdermedia (again) which starts with Alastor and Vincent running into one another at a work meeting and wanting to kill the same guy and... well, the times they run into one another after that.

⟢ Right Now, You're Mine by Rungian This one is actually staticapple! After S2, Alastor decides to make an example of Vox for his next broadcast... but Lucifer saves him before that can happen (well, mostly, my boy is not doing so hot). But to be saved, Vox offers his soul to Lucifer...

⟢ In Honeysuckle Time (You Said You'd Be Mine) by basilheaps (@basilheaps) A young Vincent is sent to spend the summer with his Aunt and Uncle and ends up making a new friend in Alastor. The story is set to explore their relationship for years to come as they "will cause immutable impact in each others lives, for better and for worse."

⟢ TIDES by Rustycookies (@mak3morn) They got therapy in this one! Murdermedia, but without the murder lol. Vincent is a marine biologist and Alastor is his favorite podcaster. And I'm sure that doing an episode together on shark biology will not awaken anything in Vincent.

⟢ The Start Of The Crossroads by IceBlueButterfly Human Valentino and Demon Vox staticmoth! Valentino is dying, so when he encounters a demon who offers him another ten years of life, he takes the deal. Which is how Val ends up with own guardian angel TV demon.

6, 10, 12, 30 for the writing meme? Also, you like "The Lies of Locke Lamora"???? I have just binge-read all three books and am in love. Please tell me you love Sabetha as much as I do. (Locke's my fave, but Sabetha is my sinnamon roll).

I haven’t read Republic yet, I just scored a copy, but I’m SURE I’ll love Sabetha! I can’t WAIT!

6. Favorite character you’ve written? In terms of other people’s characters, definitely Gabriel. In terms of my own, an OC y’all don’t know named Kael. He was my grumpy gay asshole son for years. 

10. Pick an author (or writing friend) to co-write a book with @greymichaela or Stephen King!

12. Which story of yours do you like best? why? Metal and Wax because I have been pouring my ever-loving heart and soul into it for 2 years, and even when it frustrates me I always wind up coming back to it. 

30. Do you like to read books similar to your project while you’re drafting or do you stick to non-fiction/un-similar works? Read similar books!

For the ask game: 6, 14

6. Oh good I get to talk about sweet potato meal on Tumblr.

My go-to low effort recipe is called sweet potato meal. I take two sweet potatoes of any size (the total quantity of sweet potato does not matter, only that there are two of them). I bake them in our little toaster oven thing that has a bunch of different modes, but you could probably bake them in a normal oven. I usually bake them for 40 minutes and I just kinda fuck off and forget about them until the timer dings. Then you put them on a plate and cut both of them open. Butter on both. Salt and pepper on one. Cinnamon and brown sugar on the other. Sweet potato meal.

14. I am planning to learn how to make Sims 3 custom content myself this summer, which will involve some amount of 3D modeling, which I have absolutely no idea how to do.

For the fic thing, "Rage, rage against the dying of the light"

Dylan Thomas! Nice.

The phrase “rage against the dying of the light” reminds me of that final plot line of season 11, where the sun is burning out and Dean goes in with a plan to stop Amara. I’m not exactly sure how that could be turned into a full-length fic - maybe Dean’s whole “family” speech doesn’t resonate? Maybe Amara chooses not to forgive Chuck, and he dies anyway while she disappears? Dean is left alone in the gardens, the undetonated soul bomb slowly burning him up from the inside. The only thing left for him to do is crawl back to his friends and family and wait for the world to explode out around them.

Dean makes his way back to the bar in pain and feeling hopeless, and there is much hugging, many confessions, many quiet moments spent at the bar in the comfort of his family. And with Castiel. Gentle kisses meant to soothe and console. At the end of the line, and they’re out of time.

The fic ends with the sun burning out, but it’s not a mournful death. They don’t so much succumb to the ending of the world as they do meet it head-on, with no regrets left among them, and with the knowledge that they did everything they could in defense of the earth. The world ends in a fiery blow out, but even that can’t extinguish the love in the room.

5. Top five formative books? The first book I’ve read by myself was the Russian fanfic version of the Wizard of Oz (not a translation, a rewrite. no idea how it even came to be). Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury. The End of Eternity by Isaac Asimov. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. A Guest from the Future by Kir Bulychev (Russian). I’ve read so many books but these come to mind as some of the first ones that I fell in love with. And yeah, I basically grew up on sci-fi, fantasy and fairytales and I still love them with all my heart.

49. Favorite fictional world? Ahhhhh but like… that’s like asking who’s your favourite friend this is an unfair question!!! I love stories and the worlds they are set in this is literally the best thing about fiction - so many worlds!!! I CANNOT PICK ONE IM SORRY BUT I JUST CANT I LOVE ALL OF THEM OKAY
