“Ivan, does this coat make me look fat?”
“You are half my size, Noel....” The man would murmur sheepishly. “I think you’re looking just wonderful!” He exclaimed happily, patting his partner on the back with a bit too much force. The poor man really just didn’t know his own strength.
“Aw jeez really? Are you sure, like SURE sure?” Noel fixated on their appearance in the mirror, examining it multiple times. They just couldn’t fathom that Ivan thought them cute, when he was clearly the pinnacle of cute! Absolutely unfair.
“Да!” His voice didn’t even waver, gosh he really thought that about them didn’t he-
“Noel, I’m having no good clothes for this event....all my uniforms are so stiff, they make me look just silly.....” He whined, almost childishly, as a frown graced his (perfect and adorable) face. Oh no, Noel can’t have that. Nuh uh. No way.
“Weeeeell.....” He peered at them with a curious expression, one that Noel found to be the most adorable thing in the world.
“This was supposed to be your Christmas gift-“
“You don’t celebrate Christmas?” The confused tone in his voice was even cute to them. He’s always cute!
“You do! So I thought I oughta get you something. Besides, don’t you think maybe I like making you smile for no reason anyway?” Noel’s smile widened when the flustered man pulled his scarf over his face to hide his blush.
“You always complain about not having nicer coats so uh...I got one for you! Okay, maybe I based it a bit on my tastes....” It was a deep blue, with gold buttons and embroidery. Some would say a bit too elegant for a man’s coat....but they thought it looked absolutely magnificent on him. Then again...everything did! He was perfect.
Ivan couldn’t help but blush as they draped the coat over him, putting his arms through the sleeves and buttoning it up for him. What a sweet person they were...even if others couldn’t see. He knew it.
“B-but Noella...I have been getting you nothing! I didn’t know you had been getting me the gift.....you deserve something though!” His face twisted into an upset pout. But Noel didn’t seem to mind at all.
“Your smile is enough for me, you know that-“
“But even so! I am thinking....” he took off his scarf. It took a second or so for it to hit them.
“Ivan, you can’t.”
“I am the doing it though?”
“But I mean- I don’t deserve it-!” But their cries were muffled by the cream colored scarf as the Russian man wrapped it around their neck ever so tenderly.
“My sister gave it to me long time ago, and it always made me feel like she was with me. I know I am not always being with you....so you should be keeping a piece of me. To know I always love you!”
Cue metaphorical weeping. There were no words after that, only the small ‘umph’ from Ivan when his partner suddenly jumped onto him for a hug. He stumbled back a bit, having to quickly wrap both his arms around his waist to carry them. They were quite small, and not too heavy, so he was fond of carrying them around. His precious little олененок!
“Mm....carry me the way there....”
“Okay, олененок....here we go....” slow and steady, the large man carried his lover out the door. It was a lovely scene, but...no snow on the ground at all. Noel had griped over this day after day, and he just hated to see their frown. If he could, he’d make it snow all day and night....
Snow.......snow. There’s snow.
Falling from the sky were those little white pieces of ice his partner had so long anticipated. It’s snowing!
“Snow! Oh my god Ivan snow snow! Lemme down let me down!” Almost as quickly as they came, Noel wriggled our of the man’s grasp and jumped down onto the sidewalk. He was sad at the loss of their touch, but the was quickly forgotten as he saw them in awe as a snowflake landed right on their nose.
They might’ve arrived just a little bit late to that ball.
