Mai and Kiyi in Ashes of the Academy (2025)
Following up on the survey question, is it possible the feedback or suggestions received from the players contradicts the data that are collected? For example, if players feel the matchmaking in a PvP mode is off, not matching players with another of a similar level, yet the data shows it is working as intended. How do you communicate that disconnect to the players? Or do you simply stay silent in these cases?
Player feedback contradicts data all the time. Players love using hyperbole because it often either feels real to them or makes them think they're more persuasive. Players will happily lie to us in an attempt to get their agenda carried out. Thus, feedback should never be the only thing we consider when we decide to act. We do several things with our feedback - we consider it and we validate it against our other means of gathering information like our internal data, surveys, playtester feedback, and so on. Once we have a clearer picture of the actual situation, we have more context to decide what we will do.
One thing to note is that the process typically does not involve having a big discussion about our findings and our process with the players. Not all players read our posts - only around 20% will read patch notes. Instead, our best bet to reach players is to push the changes live (once they do so). Silence (or very controlled posting) is actually very normal for most live services because it takes time for changes to be effected.
Another important thing to remember is that developers and players have very different perspectives on the game. Players typically only see what is currently live and care more about their own experiences and less about the overall health of the game. Their complaints are about what's so awful about playing a Sentinel right now. They are not considering what playing a Sentinel will be like in six months after we introduce a new skill advancement system and the new Dreadnaught class. We can't reveal that kind of information to the complaining players ahead of time for obvious reasons, so it's just another reason things play out the way they do.

✨ U P D A T E S ✨
Hi loves! Just a few things I wanted to let you all know of / remind you of!
1. 1.1k sleepover - Thank you for everyone who participated!! I had so much interaction & it went so well! So just thank you! I still can’t believe there’s that many of you!
2. Requests - I’m still working through requests for my 1.1k sleepover, not to mention I still have requests from the New Years celebration I did, & I’ve got a bunch of various requests I’ve received. Basically, I’m swamped with requests at the moment. I am trying to get them out asap, but I’m also trying to keep my sanity.
I know that I reblogged the no content november thing, but I will probably talk about and just not post the actual content.
Also, I am going to cut down to just two things that I’m writing at the moment and nothing else, then work on two other things and nothing else next month but post the stuff I worked on this month.
So,
November: No fan fics will be posted, no original works will be posted, no art will be posted (No Content November). I will work on: The Sanders Sides Cursed, Outcast, and Lost AU (Everything is posted on @cursed-outcast-and-lost and reblogged to main), and The Den (Part 1 of Life Long Justice)
December: Everything that was written/drawn relating to Cursed, Outcast, and Lost and The Den will be posted throughout the month. Thirteen and the Sanders Sides Powered AU
Each month will be updated with what will be posted and worked on the next month.
I am doing this to make it easier for myself, while trying to get as much content out for you all.
