A normal afternoon is what today should've been. It's what it was until he asked her that question. As she worked busily away in the kitchen, he came up behind her, boxing her into the counter.
"Darling? Would you still love me if-"
"If you ask the worm question, I'll pinch you." He chuckled softly at her joking words, but his face took on an expression slightly more serious.
"It's not that but…"
"What is it then?"
"Would you still love me if I hurt you?" The words confused her for a moment. She didn't believe in a world where he would try to hurt her.
"Why would you hurt me?"
"Accidently. What if I did? Hurt you so bad that you didn't want to be near me." She thought harder about the question. What would she do? She wasn't the strongest of people and her lover was her weak spot. Finally, she spoke again with an answer in mind.
"I'd love you."
"...why?" Smiling, she continued.
"I'd continue loving you because... if it was accidental, then the man I fell for is still there. And the only thing that would have pushed me away from you is if you died. And I've already promised myself that I'd die in your arms alongside you." As she was about to continue with her cooking, she heard a small sniffle from behind her.
"Babe? Wait, are you crying..?!"
"N-No..! Just, shut up... I love you..."
