did you finish Night in the Woods? what do you think of it?

i really really liked it!!!!!!!!!

it’s such a gorgeous game, and i loved the idea of friendship routes as the focus as a change from romantic ones (i loved bea’s route and still need to play through gregg’s).

i still mostly do not understand the dream sequences but i liked them a lot in conjunction with the dreaminess of longest night and lost constellation (I RECOMMEND BOTH SUPPLEMENTAL GAMES)

SPOILERS:

it’s so hard to believe this game was not developed during the election cycle lmao. 

i was really fascinated by the idea of doing a “deal with the devil” and sacrificing other people to keep a dying middle-america mining town alive. it reminds me of all of those thinkpieces about the election being legitimately the dying gasps of a lost way of life, and the game was really…tender and sensitive in its approach to the real people caught up in that (especially those who don’t immediately turn to human sacrifice)

the hole in the center of everything is a T E R R I F Y I N G idea and it works so well in this context, as does god being this giant otherworldly creature who doesn’t understand why people keep talking to it

yeah it’s just a matter of time i think for me to get used to it and if you like it then that’s a point in its favor!

it’s a softer name in general and i think that’s the key difference in her character

i feel this deserves a longer conversation than what i can spare right now so you’ll have to remind me to go more in depth after finals (since i am vainly trying to do my math hw rn) but the gist of it is that they both have issues wrt their personal feelings and, more so than the rest of the cast to some degree, they succumb to peer pressure the easiest. this is more true for pre!Sasha than current!Sasha tbf, so Sasha’s dislike in the current timeline stems more from her dislike of how she used to be versus how she is currently. they’re also the worst at being open about their feelings, which is intentionally ironic in Sasha’s case. she’s the one who’s most adamant about ppl being true to themselves, but is the worst at applying her own advice ofc. now, none of the cast is good at being open about their feelings but Sasha and Sadie are arguably the best at denial. so for Sasha, looking at Sadie is like looking into an old mirror.

this is actually one of the reasons that before i changed the scene, Sasha was the only witness to Carson giving Sadie her (admittedly rather gentle) “The Reason You Suck” speech.
