Inspiring Student Teacher Video
So last year, I ended up working on a small video for a contest. On the local University website, it tasked for current student teachers (the actor in the video besides me) to come up with a short, creative video which demonstrates what it means to "you" on becoming a student teacher.
This would be a good chance for me to film something, use my creativity since the restrictions involved being somewhat school related, and that sweet prize of an iPad.
During filming and editing, the video seemed a little "cheesy" to me...like something you would see during the intermissions of a Care Bear episode. Schools like "cheesy" though, right?
After submitting the video, we thought we had a good chance because let's be serious - University kids are lazy and probably too busy studying than work on some short film project.
Weeks went by and no response. It wasn't until later I found out that we didn't win. Curious, I had to check the winner of the contest. The video merely consisted of 20 seconds of music accompanied by pictures of a student helping less fortunate kids in Africa. Now don't get me wrong, that student is very inspiring since hes making a change in the world...but the amount of work put into the video was ridiculously low. Watching it, I could estimate that it would take me less then 20 minutes to create. Maybe the school was judging on the fact that some students might not have video related skills as others? Maybe the video actually took him like 5hrs? I feel as though that student was playing the "sympathy card".
*sigh* Anyways, here was the video that we submitted for that contest.
