Previously bubbly and rather joyfull features crumbled into an expression of PUZZLEMENT from Lightnings’s follow up question, an apricot eyebrow arching ever so slightly. Vanille hadn’t spent that much time with the soldier, and thus, her interest wasn’t what the L’Cie had EXPECTED. Usually when she cracked a comment like that, people would either brush it off or roll their eyes at her juvenile manners, not expecting that something was, indeed, wrong. Despite the fact that Vanille was an exceptional healer, she often felt like nothing but a  B U R D E N  around the others, which was partially the reason behind her odd inquiry. 

“Oh, um... No reason,” Vanille responded innocently, slender arms folding behind her back.  “I just... Wonder what it would feel like to be a dog.”

Ever since she was sent away from Republic City and was forced to live with her grandparents, Suyin missed the FREEDOM her old home provided. Like her own mother did as a child, the teenager was quickly FED UP with all these rules, and after spending two years after Poppy and Lao’s watchfull eyes, Suyin decided to run away and discover the rest of the Earth Kingdom. 

However, traveling completely by HERSELF wasn’t something that interested the young metalbender in that moment, so in lack of other people to contact, she came to the conclusion of returning to Repiblic City to gather up her old gang. Suyin had heard the news about her mother retiring and Lin taking over the job as CHIEF, but other then that, she guessed things hadn’t changed that much in the city for the past two years. 

Though the young Beifong was GRAVELY mistaken, and wasn’t greeted back by her old ‘friends’ with open arms like she’d hoped. The last thing Suyin remembered before blacking out was two members of the Triads roughly holding her down, while a third one started to beat her SENSELESS, yelling something about what a FOOL she was to return after abandoning them. No one leaves the Triads just like that, and they made sure Suyin would get the message. 

After waking up later that evening, Suyin had gotten up from the ground and groggilly dragged herself in the direction of her old home. Everything ached and she could barely keep herself in an UPRIGHT position, so finally lying eyes on her sister’s FAMILIAR face was a huge relief. 

“I’m s-s-sorry, Lin.” A weak whisper left the younger Beifong’s busted lips after carefully being carried to the sofa, gazing up at her big sister through semi-closed, bruised and swollen eyelids. “I k-know that you d.... D-don’t want to see... See me, but I d-didn’t kno-w wh-where e-else t-to go.”

@irohthesecond replied to THIS: Iroh pinched his brow; even by his standards, it’d been a long time since he’d had any rest. “If you don’t mind, what do you think of Raiko?” He hadn’t met anyone with a good impression, but he might as well ask before venting.

“President Raiko?” Suyin asked, pursing her lips tightly together, shoulders shrugging nonchalantly. The Matriarch had only met him a few times, and she didn’t leave happy from those meetings, even if she definately prefered having a President as ruler rather then an OUTDATED KING. 

“He didn’t handle the Kuvira situation too well... And I dislike the way Raiko and Tenzin expected ME to take over Ba Sing Se after the Earth Queen’s fall, while they just stood there doing nothing. Why do you ask?”

Mumbling something incoherent under her faul, alcohol smelling breath, the policewoman practically SLUMPED over Korra’s shoulder, stumbling over her own feet as she tried to take a few steps foreward. “Why... Why wouldld I wanna mhakhe out with Nagha?” Lin asked, her voice drenched in confusion. “I’m not NEARLY drunk enoguhg to mhakhe out with ANIHMALSSH.... Gimme anothrrrrr shot, and I’ll CONSIDHHER it.”

"You’re... You’re INSANE!” Baatar gasped, eyes widening in shock from the woman’s words. “You can’t seriously think that Kuvira would want someone like you. You’re one of her guards, and NOTHING more,” he wheezed out, wrinkling his nose when Schmidt sprinkled ashes from cigar onto his head, this filthy habit that he HATED. 

Wrapping one arm tightly around his stomach, he pressed the other against the ground for support, starting to feel DIZZY from loss of blood. Schmidt’s voice faded away in his ears, and his body began to feel numb.  

“Are you seriously just going to stand there and let me DIE?!”
