Shall there be a Scottish Parliament?
Shall there be a Scottish Parliament?
There shall be a Scottish Parliament. But only if we are prepared to fight for it.
There shall be a Scottish Parliament. But not if we allow the British political elite to have its way.
There shall be a Scottish Parliament. But we must now decide, as a matter of great urgency whether it is to be a Parliament which exists and functions only by the grace and favour of the British state, or a…

[Susan Stewart has popped this up for those of us that don't keep up properly.
I do hope some take note.
"So, you know how you don't really take notice of politics? Well, let me tell you what's happening the now.
Westminster are about to push through the 'Withdrawal Bill' this month. They're doing this so they can stop having to stick to EU rules. This will mean they can do what they like with everything, like working time directives, health and safety, produce, livestock standards, food standards, passports, exports, everything, and there's nothing we can do about it. Scary biscuits eh?
Holyrood are racing to get their own withdrawal bill through Holyrood which will stop Westminster from stealing our stuff. Stuff we've spent decades building up. Like our banging Whisky trade, our Gin, Salmon and other food exports that make the UK billions and keep us in jobs. Because the likes of the US...are actually wanting to make Whisky to our recipe and sell it as 'Scottish'. Mind, Americans make their own 'Scatch'...but it's not Scottish. EU rules say it has to be made in Scotland for it to be called Scottish. So, once ol' Tezza tells the US and the Chinese they can make Whisky and call it Scottish, the world will be able to buy it far cheaper than ours - and so our sales will plummet. They also want to do the same with Arbroath Smokies, Selkirk Bannocks, Scottish Lamb, Shortbread, Stornaway Blackpudding...and so on. They HAVE to do this, because...well, because England really doesn't have many resources. They had a good financial industry...and they've got tourism, and...well, as I said, they really don't have any resources or industry. Like Scotland does.
When the Continuity Bill goes through Holyrood - our stuff will be protected under Scots law. Tezza won't be able to offer any of it as bribes for trade. Westminster won't like that...and neither will the House Of Lords.
None of this will be front page news on any rag or TV channel, because Westminster don't want us (Scots) to know how hard they are trying to screw us over. It's not just us, Wales is doing exactly the same...desperately trying to push through a bill to stop Westminster pawning off their resources in exchange for shoddy trade agreements.
What could Westminster do? Well, they could assure us they won't steal our stuff. But they won't. They're not. The SG (Greens, SNP, some Labour) keep asking and they keep saying 'No'. They could ignore our Bill and pawn off our stuff anyway. I mean, who is going to stop them? Or, they could start dismantling devolution. Slowly taking away our powers, and our parliament so that it's hobbled and there is no effective Scottish government in place to protect Scotland.
I'm doing this because I know the majority of you don't do politics. You are mostly guided by what you see on the news or the daily front pages on news stands and sometimes its easier to hear if from a friend, in friendly terms. But this is happening now...and it's going to affect us all. Scary times."]

Crunch time!
Mike Russellnotes that the primary duty of the Scottish Parliament and its Members is to serve the people of Scotland and protect their interests. One would hope and expect this to be no more than a statement of the obvious. We would tend to assume that this is a sentiment with which every MSP would concur. It would seem to be a fundamental principle, that those elected to a Parliament owe full…

For some months now I have been attempting to placate those who have expressed impatience with Nicola Sturgeon by assuring them that she has a plan. A plan which involves letting the British government make the case for the moves she intends to make. Moves such as the introduction of the Continuity Bill. It has been a matter of gradually ramping up the response level as the actions of British…
