happy birthday kiss from the man, accompanied by two pretty little kids and a breakfast already made
Faye had thought she heard a commotion in the kitchen, somewhat amazed that she could even hear it in the Xavier mansion but the sound of her love with their children was something she could always hear, no matter what. The world could be ending and she could hear them, her family. Something she didn’t want to be tested any time soon, only wanting to enjoy the peace that seemed to surround them. She was glad she managed to get the day off, not just for herself on her birthday, but simply because it meant more time at home ( she wondered just when she considered Charles and David Xavier’s home her own? Perhaps when Adam was born, only wanting to go home with him ) and enjoy sights like this.
Adam was growing up so fast now. Running around the kitchen when she can barely remember him crawling as if it was yesterday. Her beautiful son with big blue caring eyes that she swore sparkled when he smiled, looking so much like David, and god, he was smiling now. His little hands grasping the can of whipped cream, begging his dad to let him put the whipped cream on the waffles ready at the table.
Fiona had started to cry in David’s arms, the little girl had come to join them so recently and with no complications. ( No kidnapping this time, no abductions and no plans on turning her children into weapons against their own kind — and with David right by Faye’s side to welcome Fiona Xavier home ) It was a relief and a blessing, making Faye believe that the worst was over, though a part of her knew that wouldn’t be the case. But now she could pretend. She watched as David did his best to calm her down, and Fiona’s big brother came forward, trying to get his sister’s attention. “No cry! Don’t cry! It’s okay, Fi, we can — uhm, yeah, we can put the whip cream together for Mommy!”
“Ooh, I think she’s a lil’ too young for that, sweetheart,” Faye’s voice rang out which only earned Adam’s gasp and smile to brighten up. She walked into the precious scene before her, the first thing she felt was David’s lips against her own in a kiss, making her smile and return it just as tenderly and with affection. “Love you,” she whispered against his lips before turning to her daughter, reaching her little hands out which made Faye bend down and kiss those hands. “And I love you,” she said, and she swore Fiona’s lips turned into a smile, making Faye bend down and kiss the crown of her head, little tuffs of ginger adorning her. Ah, another redhead, one with big blue eyes just like her brother and father. Yeah, she quite liked that. Her two children with their father’s beautiful eyes.
“Mommy!” Adam cried out, running toward her, “Happy Happy Birthday!”
She chuckled, crouching down to catch him in her arms, giving his cheeks a kiss, one on each side. “Thank you very much, sweetheart, you guys did such an incredible job, I was so surprised.” She chuckled as she picked him up, hugging him close. “You know my star boys always make my birthday the best there is, yeah?” Hazel eyes looked to Fiona, then, who looked right back at her mother and brother, smiling brightly. “And Fiona’s makin’ it even better, ‘cause we’re all a bigger family.” She looked at Adam, “You’re happy ‘bout that, yeah?”
“Uh-huh!” he said with a smile, lifting the can of whipped cream, “Mommy, can I do the whip cream?”
She laughed, giving a nod, “Of course.”
“Fi, too! And Daddy! All together.”
“Absolutely,” she said with a smile, looking over at David and their daughter. “C’mon, then. Let’s all put on the whip cream on the waffles, yeah? Together, like a family.”
the best of birthdays, @contracore
