In correction to the response in regards to the CUPE strike. If there is a strike, all classes will be cancelled. Profs are very much inline with the needs and views of their TAs and offer them their full support. Its also requested that during the strike, students remain off campus. If students remain off campus, there is a better chance of the strike coming to an end in a shorter amount of time.
Not all faculties follow this when there is a strike, for example Schulich and Osgoode Law School will continue running as normal if there is a strike as their contract faculty is not part of CUPE 3903 so they will still have classes, admin offices will also continue running as normal, which is what happened last time. Other than that, yes you are correct, all other classes will be cancelled.
Everything varies depending on the outcome. During the last strike all the profs got what they wanted and renewed their contract, so we submitted course work as normal online, but were also given the choice to forgo it until the strike ended if we wanted to stand in solidarity with the strikers because the GAs/TAs were on strike, which is why not many classes were affected (mine weren’t) even though we did not go to class. You are allowed to come on campus if you want to though, students are not barred from doing that, but you will be dropped off at Founders if you take the bus as buses won’t be able to enter campus due to the union blocking paths/roads and protesting. Most students came on campus to join the protests, or get other misc work done.
PSA: please do NOT drive to campus if there is a strike
and expect not be delayed or stuck, last time people had road rage due to the blockades, not sure why they didn’t expect that and thought strikers would just scoot out of their way (I mean it’s a strike, they’re trying to make a point, get that through your head).
