[Tweet by Gillian Branstetter reads “If enforcing gender norms requires a constant state of surveillance and censorship then they probably aren’t as biological or innate as you think they are]
Sylvia Rivera calling out gays and lesbians for their trans exclusion in 1973 at the Christopher Street Liberation Day rally (x)
Still relevant
And if I’m not mistaken, Sylvia Rivera was *specifically* addressing WHITE gays and white feminists here. She called out these middle/upper class white folks who strove only for assimilation while neglecting Black and brown LGBT people who were poor and struggling and languishing in prison. White Gays and feminists didn’t like the way revolutionary figures like Sylvia were “rocking the boat”
Specification is important here because antiblackness and racism are still rampant in the LGBT community and Black + brown LGBT folks have had to make communities of our own because white LGBT people ostracize us.
This was, IIRC, the year that Marsha and Sylvia were told they were not welcome in the March.
Wendy Carlos
For people who might not know - Wendy Carlos is a trans woman who was deeply influential in early electronic music and hugely involved with the push to have synthesizers seen as real instruments.
Some of the movies Wendy Carlos did the soundtracks for, that you may know:
A Clockwork Orange
The Shining
Tron
She has three Grammys, and a lifetime achievement award from the Society for Electro-Acoustic Music in the United States.
Oh and she also takes photos of eclipses that are so good Nasa uses them.
Her discography is here!
And here is a more recent photo of her with her cat, Pandora:

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
We’ve waited a year to reblog this. Happy Bread Anniversary!
Because it’s important to celebrate the little victories in life.
12 days left until the breadiversary, we’d better make sure we have the ingredients on hand!
It’s today!
It’s today!!
I was listening to Enchanted by Taylor Swift when I was struck with inspo for an Achilles and Patroclus love scene
He stood across the courtyard as the men around me clamoured to put down my suitcases. Time felt scarce, my breaths became unfathomably still when our eyes locked. By Zeus Almighty’s sacred lightning bolt, there was an air of playful invitation in the ways his eyes lingered on me before he finally severed his gaze to face his new destination - away, sorrowful to me.
His garb was more effeminate than usual and he jingled away as the women around him whisked him away. There was one that clung to his side with the desperation of a lover, and I would know it very well.
You see, I was seeing him after an eternity apart and here we were, being unmercifully strung apart again. This playfulness he delivers into my mind is made of moments only we knew, in secret from the rest of the world.
I stood by the merchants and lords as they spoke to the servant that was already sweating at the prospect of increasing his workload.
Suddenly, my leg was struck with a thud.
I spun around to face my culprit, only to catch a glimpse of the man responsible for my woe. My stomach fluttered with joy and my steps were filled with adrenaline. I excused myself and slipped around the courtyard gates to find my muse, leaning gracefully against a fig tree.
“Hello, Pat. It’s lovely to see you again,” his voice melted me to my core as its honeyed allure poured over me.
He wore a deep purple chemise that hung off him in a relaxed manner. It didn’t quite meet the edges of his abdomen as his trousers sat just below his hips. His long honeyed hair fell perfectly as he stood.
“Pthius, my lover. How’ve you been?” I whispered into his neck as I engulfed him in my arms.
“And I don’t think anybody should feel bad if they get diagnosed with a mental illness, ’cause it’s just information about you that helps you to know how to take better care of yourself.
“Being bipolar, there’s nothing wrong with it. Being bipolar is like not knowing how to swim. It might be embarrassing to tell people, and it might be hard to take you certain places. But they have arm floaties. And if you just take your arm floaties, you can go wherever the hell you want.
“And I know some of you are like, ‘But Taylor, what if people judge me for taking arm floaties?’ Well, those people don’t care if you live or die, so maybe who cares? Maybe fuck those people a little. I don’t know.”
Taylor Tomlinson, Look At You (2022)
My fashion style could be described as “Professional Vampire”, with a sprinkle of flair, a dash of danger, and a healthy helping of “help, i’m sad”
the increasing blurred line between “work and home”
y’all ever think about how before technology, people had more regulated and sort of calmer life patterns and schedules? if they had a job, they went TO the job and then left the job AT the workplace.
home was a sanctuary for enjoyment (i’m not overlooking societal issues here, just for the philosophical point i’m attempting to postulate, let’s assume that without the societal issues aspect).
people turn their hobbies into side hustles and some lose interest in them because it’s not “profitable”.
humanity has gone so far off the deep end that what is “profitable” is limited to manmade items such as money.
why is profit not just the love we find within our communities? why isn’t it without worry that some other person, who is also on this planet to survive and love, is going to take away our peace?
nobody should have to feel like they’re constantly under threat or being watched or “supervised” in a place that is supposed to be safe.
capitalism needs to shut up a bit. and by a bit i mean a lot.
“Be gay do crime!!” “Eat the rich!!”
And you can’t even boycott the most famous TERF in the UK
With vanilla extract being a meme, I wanted to share some black history of Edmond Albius a black slave who revolutionized vanilla pollination.
He used a technique he learned of pollinating melons to polinate the orchids to create the vanilla beans. Vanilla was rare and a luxury mainly due to only being able to be pollinated by its natural pollinator in Mexico.
unfortanely, he didnt receive any money for his discovery despite being called the main man who revolutionized pollination, he died in poverty...
everyone say thank you Edmond
i hope you are being compassionate with yourself today. you are your oldest childhood friend

Okay reblog if you’re an artist who STRONGLY PREFERS reblogs with commentary
People are apparently under the impression that reblogging someone’s art and adding a comment is frowned upon and that can’t possibly be true, every artist I know of sees a reblog-comment as like the ultimate definitive reward for their hard work.
Obviously don’t feel bad for NOT adding a comment if you’re shy or just don’t know what to say, but if there’s something you would like to say about a drawing you’ve liked enough to reblog, I’m pretty sure most artists crave hearing it.
This applies to art, fic, dumb theories, whatever! I totally love reading tags and commentary!
Definitely re-emphasizing that ALL reblogs, likes, etc are awesome! So don’t feel bad/feel obligated to add something if you don’t want to, but don’t hold back if you DO wanna add something because you’re worried it’s rude.
I once read someone’s post saying “NEVER ADD A COMMENT WHEN YOU REBLOG SOMEONE’S WORK CAUSE YOU’RE TAKING ATTENTION AWAY FROM THEM” and it’s what prevented me from doing so for a time, until I became a creator of stuff myself and I can say that’s absolutely untrue. For one, I’m not a five year old who needs all the attention to be on me all the time. For another, the fact that someone would take the time to sit down and put real effort into writing something, whether as a comment or in the tags, means so much to me and is the most inspiring. Finally, you have a voice too, and you have as much right to speak it as I do :)
SO COMMENT AWAY, MAKE SOMEONE’S DAY :D
I drink this and my knees no longer crack and make weird noises.
