The restriction of sales within the continental United States was deemed federal overreach, as the Lacey Act only prohibits trade between the continental United States and Hawaii/Puerto Rico. However, it seems large constrictors are still being viewed as "injurious" species on the same level as zebra mussels and carp, which is inaccurate and unsupported by research done on listed species.
