Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?
Instead of XYZ happening, I would have made ABC happen…
Popular character you hate?
oooooohhhhhh these are all good ones ok ok
Idk how popular Makorra is anymore but that is an OTP that I hella BroTP. I live for Mako & Korra friendship content. I just think after they break up they would be thick as thieves and it would be so great and I am so angry at lok for not giving us, the audience, more Mako & Korra BroTP content. just in general I would have wanted more platonic bonding within the krew. I know they had really short seasons and couldn’t do a lot of the character stuff that ATLA was able to do but it just made their whole presence in the show so shallow and I was longing for more developed friendships between these people who all claim that they would die for one another. but I guess that’s what my ao3 acc is for.
I have *multiple* posts about things I would write differently, especially in lok (peep my Amon post) but one of the hcs that I’m most proud of is that instead of Zaheer getting Airbending from Harmonic Convergence, Aang gave it to him before he died. Now, this does bring up questions like “how did Aang and Zaheer even know each other?” (they met when Zaheer was still part of the White Lotus, Aang is a super friendly person generally and Zaheer really wanted to know about Air Nomad culture from someone who had experienced it before the genocide.) and “why would Aang give Airbending to Zaheer but not any of the Air Acolytes?” (Aang didn’t trust the Air Acolytes with Airbending, and initially didn’t want to give Zaheer Airbending, but Zaheer kept asking and convinced Aang that he could trust him.) I just think that there wasn’t enough reckoning with the Air Nomad genocide and the Fire Nation’s role in it in lok (or in the ATLA universe in general. Having it so that Zaheer’s anti-government anti-White Lotus stances are based in a deep relationship with his mentor, the last Air Avatar and survivor of the genocide, would have provided a much more interesting conflict with the Red Lotus. Additionally, I love the idea of Zaheer learning Airbending in secret, waiting for the right moment to pull out his trump card and escape, biding his time. That’s just so much more compelling to me than him getting Airbending one day and being amazing at it instantly (and yes, many many people have told me that he would be good at Airbending instantly because he was an incredible martial artist in tune with Airbending culture and it’s not bad writing actually, agree to disagree fam.) Also, everybody should check out Sruthi’s combustion bender posts because in all honesty, writing and representation wise, the combustion benders are a major weak point of the show and her headcanons would have made both shows infinitely better. ok so that was three answers to that question but I have a lot of gripes!!!!!!!!
I’ve definitely talked about this before but I cannot stand Kuvira. I really can’t. I’ve seen people compare her to Azula and honestly if Azula’s character weren’t written so well I would probably hate her too. Kuvira as a character just lacked nuance to me. I feel like I could appreciate her as a villain if there weren’t so many people in this fandom who loved her. Idk, maybe it’s hypocritical to love Azula while hating Kuvira, but for me, Azula was written with a lot more depth in the text of the show (I really don’t feel like reading the comics I’m sorry I’ve heard too much about the homophobia and the bad writing and like. I can’t do it) and seeing and understanding her makes all the difference for me. Personally, a lot of the love for Kuvira (not all, but a lot of what I’ve seen) is partially due to the fact that she’s light-skinned and conventionally attractive and that bothers me a lot.
