Charlie gave herself a once over in the mirror before nodding to herself and putting on her leopard print coat. This seemed like an appropriate outfit for take out and drinks whilst also being presentable for the small subway ride to get there. Most of the kids were out - it was Friday night after all. The oldest boy were out for beers with friends, Sammy had dance practice and Gabby and Cassie were shut in the latters room watching Netflix. Charlie quickly opened the door to say bye to the pair. “I’m heading out to Anya’s now, I probably won’t be home till later. You girls need anything, you text me straight away and have fun, I love you.” Cassie rolled her eyes but muttered a ‘love you too’ back, with Gabby relaying the sentiment in a much more chipper tone. “Love you too Momma C, have fun, you need it. Be safe!” The older woman smiled in return as she closed the door over again. Satisfied that everything was okay to leave, she headed out.
The short subway ride had Charlie bouncing her leg in excitement. Over the past few weeks, the woman had gotten really close with the Russian and was so pleased to get the opportunity to hang out outside of school again. After the dinner at her apartment, the two had gotten even closer and Charlie felt a real friendship bond blossoming, it was nice. Charlie felt secure and happy with her family, but it was great to have someone outside her bubble to now bond with as well. Once the train reached the station, Charlie hopped out and made the five minute walk to Anya’s apartment, wrapping her coat around her to shield her from the sharp wind. Soon enough though, she had arrived at her destination and knocked cheerfully on Anya’s door. Once the other woman opened the door, Charlie beemed, “I heard there was going to be vodka and I just couldn’t resist. Hey!”
