Aradia, Karkat, and Sollux (Conversation #4)
Sollux: He silently listened to Karkat talk, his ears twitching, but he didn’t say anything. It was easier to just keep quiet. He sort of just flopped over when he was set down in bed, curling up and making a very soft, unhappy noise. Could he just go to sleep, forever, right now? He would, but he was actually interested in what Karkat and Aradia were about to say, so he forced himself to stay awake instead.
Aradia: She quietly walked in Sollux room taking in the details of the place, it had been her first time getting a good look at the place. She sets the water bottle she previously capchlogged on his bed side table and stays quite for a bit. She was glad her time powers worked again, the situation where she had to use them so far where always terrible but at least no one had died unlike Nepeta. She tries to shake off the standard fear of time powers and focuses back on Karkat. He said he wanted to talk, that isn’t the best of sign but with the amount of questions she had it was the only thing she had. She clears her throat and spoke quietly “we should wait for him to wake up right?”
Karkat: He sits on the side of the bed, careful not to disturb Sollux. "Is he asleep?" The mutantblood asks, glancing at the prone form. He saw how messed up Damara was after being healed like that, Sollux might follow the same trends. "We should have made him drink first, or at least try to make him drink and get something actually in his stomach." Well maybe not, if Sollux pukes his stomach may be better empty.
Sollux: He gave a little chirp, if only to show he was awake, shifting slightly to face them a bit more. Even just sitting up and drinking something seemed like way too much work... but hey, arguing against it sounded like even more work, so, the lesser evil it would be, he supposed.
Aradia: She shrugs, healing and first aid had never really been her thing other than standard bandages from the scrapes and bruises. This kind of thing was far out of her jurisdiction, she had expected Karkat to know this kind of thing, and after all he was good at it. “drinking water is probably a good idea, there wouldn’t be much in his stomach now.” She blinks at the sudden noise Sollux made. She hoped that was a good sign, She kneels down next to his bed grabbing the bottle and giving a worried look speaking softly “Sollux?.. do you want help sitting up?” she hoped she was doing the right thing.
Karkat: The mutantblood watching, bottling any urges to intervene and do this himself. "We can help you sit up, if you want." Speaking out calmly, and almost quietly, Karkat mulls the situation over in his head. There could be pale implications, or flushed implications, or whatever implications if he left them alone. On the other hand, they did know about his tryst with Damara, which isn't something he'd like waved around. Actually... Maybe this isn't the worst thing in the world. It's not like he's ashamed of it, he'll talk to Dave about it later, but still, he wanted this to spread with some measure of control. "We'll try eating in a bit, drink though."
Sollux: He just nodded a tiny bit, huffing softly and shifting a bit, moving over to his side slightly. He didn’t especially feel like eating, or drinking, but he figured he might as well. And also that Karkat and Aradia probably wouldn't give him a choice.
Aradia: Oh god, Karkat isn’t doing anything all right that might be good he had been working himself to hard, she can do this herself right? Well hopefully despite the lack of knowledge. She takes a deep breath and attempts to ignore any implications and focuses on helping Sollux, at this point it’s the least she could do. She ignores any pale thoughts and the weird feeling she was getting in her chest, and moves her hand underneath his neck helping steady him and tilting the water bottle up a little speaking as softly as she could. “Come on you heard karkat, please try and drink a little”
Karkat: He watches, slipping an arm under Sollux and propping him up just a few hairs more, so the water can flow down his throat without the yellowblood really needing to act. "A bit of water, and some rest, you'll be back to normal." He says, trying to sound reassuring. "Trust me, you may feel like shit now, but hey its better than suffocating to death."
Sollux: He huffed softly, giving Karkat a look. Yeah, sure, easy for him to say. That he supposed it was true, he was pretty glad he dodged that bullet... He just nodded a tiny bit, shifting to sit up a little more and sip at the water, just a tiny bit at first but then drinking greedily. It hurt like hell to swallow, but at the same time the water felt so good on his sore throat and it felt like he was drinking energy.
Aradia: She was relieved to see Sollux actually drinking, at least he had something in his stomach now that was probably a good thing. She let Sollux finish drinking and tilted the bottle back up and gently moving her hand out and away from under him. Placing the bottle on his side table for later use, her nerves about the situation has yet to subside she stayed quite nervously looking in between Sollux and Karkat.
Karkat: Nodding, the mutant blood says, "Try to speak, please. I'm not sure how long this will last, but anything to push it along." He doesn't want Sollux to be stuck in his room, no more than Sollux would want to.
Sollux: He huffed a bit, mostly just flopping back over when Aradia pulled away. "I don't even know what that's supposed to mean," he mumbled out quietly, his voice a very strained, raspy whisper. It fucking hurt to speak and breath, like he had goddamned pneumonia or something.
Aradia: She frowns at hearing the raspy tone, right well there was progress. “maybe he should just try and rest?” that was a thing you often suggest. And she sure Sollux resting up wouldn’t hurt. She still felt weirdly worried just desperately trying to ignore pale implications. “besides me and you karkat, we still need to talk”
Karkat: Rolling his eyes, he comments, "We don't have to talk, but if you really want to talk, I am here." He shakes his head, really not wanting to go forth with this ordeal. "But what's most important is Sollux's health, of course."
Sollux: He made a sound that was vaguely reminiscent of "nyeh nyeh..." rolling his eyes slightly and curling up. If they were gonna talk, at least, he wanted to listen in. And maybe comment if it was dubbed worth the pain of talking, and hearing his own gross voice.
Aradia: “fine than I feel like we should talk, or at least-“ she trails of pausing glancing at sollux and giving a sigh. She wished there was something else she could do other than wait for him to feel better and eat. She nods to Karkat “yeah your right health is first.. is there something we should do now?”
Karkat: "We don't need to do anything right now, just let him rest for a little, then eat in a bit. I'm going to stay here overnight, too." He glances at Sollux, not asking permission to stay, rather just asserting. "I know you probably are not going to join me, so fine, just ask what you want to ask now." Might as well get this over with.
Sollux: He could deal with Karkat sticking around, he didn't really mind. It was certainly preferable to simply being left here to pass out and have nightmares by himself, though he did wonder breifly what Damara was gonna do. He had been under the impression that Karkat was sleeping with her at night, but he could just be misinformed. At any rate, he was interested to hear what Aradia had to say.
Aradia: She shifts a little “yeah, you should do that, I would join things are just a little” she pauses “delicate” complicated quadrent issues some things in this world may never change. She really does wish it was easier, she shrugs off her problems for now. “I just wanted to know uh, your exact relationship with damara..i mean you don’t have to share but still it would be nice to know what exactly is going on” she trails off stopping her rambling.
Karkat: He sticks out his tongue at the first statement, then comments, "I am going to just force you to take a night with someone Aradia. Just tuck you into a blanket tighter than the tights on the empress' hips, then snuggle up when you can't even move." The threat wasn't really there, more so just hot air for Karkat to spout while he gets his thoughts together. Phew, that's such a weird topic, why is the rustblood so keen on knowing? Maybe it's a dancestor thing, but he would never want to know if a poor sap was sleeping with Kankri. "Can I ask what the sudden interest is?"
Sollux: He resisted a growl of annoyance at both Aradia and Karkat’s statements, rolling his eyes. Yes, they were both treating it so fucking delicately... at the next statement, however, he piped up. "'Cuz Damara told us you two fucked." he hummed matter of factly.
Aradia: She just rolled her eyes at the comment, she didn’t need to get in the topic of her sleep schedule now, even though it hasn’t been much of a problem as of late. She might just wait until Dave brings it up, if he does, or maybe they could just both avoid the topic forever, yeah that seems like a good plan. She paused at his question, not really sure how to explain it, before attaching to Sollux replies. “She was pretty confident about it, besides I just want to start figuring everything out, I need to catch up”
Karkat: "And what I may or may not do is 'catching up'?" He raises an eyebrow, glancing between the two. "Damara also talks about banging spots on the walls, so I don't know how much weight her words will hold." His arms cross, glancing between the two. "If you're so keen to share sex stuff, why not bring up anything you both have been through? Maybe because it doesn't actually matter." The mutantblood deadpans, before offering a sigh and admitting, "We've been sexually intimate, but we're not doing anything in a quadrant." Letting that sit for a moment, Karkat finishes with a quick, "We didn't actually pail, I'm still trying to get over the whole drone-trauma issues."
Sollux: He just smiled. "Called it." he mumbled softly. And what more was there really left to say beyond that?
Aradia: “no I didn’t say that its just, I wanted information that’s all okay?” She holds her hands up defensively. She really needs to learn when in a situation curiosity is considered a bad thing. “look I never said it really mattered I just wanted to know” She pauses thinking over what Karkat confirmed, intimate well that was something, she just wasn’t entirely sure how to feel about it. She nods after a moment of thought “okay than, thanks for being honest than.” She reminded herself to bug Karkat about it later when the situation wasn’t so tense and when Sollux could actually participate.
Karkat: He shrugs, saying, "It's helpful to have her with this, and she was relentlessly flirting, but that's the same for everyone, so..." Karkat shrugs, as if he didn't know what to think about it. "I think it's just a thing, she'll get bored eventually."
Sollux: Sollux intended to bug Karkat about this by banging Damara. But that was an entirely different ballgame. For now, he just stayed quiet. For whatever reason, he wasn't quite as convinced that it was just some casual thing, with how much time he spent with her, but... hey, what did he know?
Aradia: “no I agree it is a good idea it is helpful and Im sure you’ve figured out by now that the relentless flirting is just her.. colourful personality” She gives a small smile, it was nice to hear Damara getting some attention really she deserves that in the least. It was also a comfort to see that despite dancestor banging quadrant commotion seemed to have calmed down, just not for her. Speaking of which she feels like she should leave Sollux now, things where awkward enough before this. She clears her throat “so I’m probably just going to go down to the kitchen now so pester me if you need anything okay?”
Karkat: He nods, waving her away. "Do me a favor and try not to spread it around too much. I've been trying to find time to talk to Dave about it, but shit's been here or there or whatever, so it has yet to happen." To be fair he should tell Rose too, but Dave would probably go straight to her about it anyways. Ugh, maybe he should just tell her to get it done and over with. Pulling his feet on the bed, he gives a small wave. "Don't hide too much, Aradia. That's an order."
Sollux: He huffed very quietly, frowning a bit, but he didn’t say anything about Aradia's sudden departure. Why should he care if she runs off, anyway? He doesn't, in fact. He just listens silently from his spot on the bed, not offering a farewell. Hers didn't seem to be directed at him, anyway. He was pretty sure she had been talking to Karkat.
Aradia: “I promis I wont, although I might be talking to damara soon” she trails off, she should probably catch up with her too. There was a lot of catching up to do. She was however glad that Karkat planned on sharing the news she was sure Dave would be ecstatic. She smiles and gives a small only slightly sarcastic salute to Karkats comment “I promise, goodnight try and get some sleep” she walked to the door opening it as quietly as she could before looking back in between Sollux and Karkat. “take care of sollux okay? I mean I know you will but- just-“ she starts fumbling over her words shifting awkwardly. She should probably just leave now she’s lost all chance of not having implications by now, she hoped Sollux blacked out after all he had been quite. “just let me know if anything else happens okay? Goodnight karkat”
Aradia: *and with that she quietly shuts the door behind her slipping out into the hall
Karkat: He raises a wary eyebrow when she starts to fumble, but allows her to leave without complaint. There isn't really anything to comment on, to be honest. She still cares about Sollux, which is obvious, even if he probably won't have time to actually contact her if something happens. Pushing his back against the bed frame, Karkat pops open his laptop, lowing the brightness so not to disturb Sollux, and muttering to the Yellowblood, "Get some sleep. You need it."
Sollux: He frowned a bit, biting his lip, but held back anything he wanted to say. It wasn’t worth it and she was gone now anyway, and it was probably for the best that she was gone. It was easier to keep away from her and not have to deal with... any of that, really. He just nodded a tiny bit, sighing and curling up in the sheets, letting his eyes flutter shut. Even though it doesn't matter if his eyes or open or not. Because either way he is entirely blind... and literally not effected by laptop screen brightness, at all, in any way. Just saying.
Karkat: Well, it's the thought that counts.
Sollux: It is a really big deal, admittedly, when Karkat manages to have a thought. It doesn't happen very often.
