Lima Bean had always been that familiar place where Joey spent most of his time, whenever he wasn’t home or at school – of course it wasn’t the best place in the world and sometimes the coffee would taste like a dirty sock, but Joey had always liked being there, whether he was with his friends or if he was just alone. And yes, Joey still liked it even if it had been the place where Leo McCarthy had punched him in front of everyone. After getting his coffee, Joey noticed that Eli St. James wasn’t on her usual spot, casually rolling her eyes whenever a costumer turned their backs – however, it didn’t take him long to spot her outside. He thought this would probably be the best time to talk to her, especially since he really hadn’t a real talk with her after her and Cam broke up (they barely talked at Sadie’s, so it didn’t count) and Joey had just recently learned that there was a possibility that she was a lesbian, all just because Ruby had mentioned it at their sleepover. Joey finally made his way outside and greeted the other with a smile, waving his free hand at her so she would notice he was there. “Hey!” He said with a nod. “I thought you weren’t around, I didn’t see you in there and I thought you had finally quit.” He said with a small chuckle. “How have you been?” He asked, not wanting to jump right into the conversation about her liking girls – it would probably just make it awkward. But now that he thought about it, Joey couldn’t remember a time where he didn’t just ask people stuff he wanted to know, so he decided to go forward. “Would you be offended if I asked you if you are a lesbian? Because I’ve had that in my head for days now, and I really can’t stop thinking about it.” He said, before looking at Eli, hoping she wouldn’t run off.
