The conversation he’d been laying off since Halloween had to come up eventually and after seeing Sam, it gave the celestial a little hope that maybe things wouldn’t be as bad as perhaps Castiel had anticipated. That maybe he should stop blaming himself but that cloud of guilt surrounding him hadn’t passed. Not at all. Even more so when he sees the hunter now in his vision. How was he supposed to approach this? As if they were fine? He’d been a demon and forced, Dean, his closest longtime friend, who’d been a hybrid at the time, to feed on demon blood. After how badly he knew that demon blood had affected Sam in the past and all the crap Cas had given him for it. He did it anyway because he just felt like it. No morals or fear of consequence. So he starts with what he needs to instead of an awkward greeting. “I’m sorry, Dean. I’m really, really sorry.” There’s a tone on Cas’ voice now of pain. How badly that choice must have effect Dean, even to the present time. “There’s no excuse for what I did.”
