“I don’t know what you’re talking about. It’s not like I’ve been ignoring you,” she lies, purposefully not looking up at the other. Wobbling on her feet, she glances to the side. They both know that she's been ignoring them. Even going as far as avoiding them at all costs. “I've just been very busy.”

     Maya can’t even look at the other. Afraid that making eye contact will break her resolve. Scared that she won’t be able to keep her cool if she has to look them in the eyes as she speaks. “I-I don’t know what you’re talking about. Nothing’s wrong.” Her voice is shaky, not helping her case. She stares down at her hands, tilting her head to the left. She takes a deep breath before asking: “Why would there be anything wrong?”

“W-What are you doing here,” Maya didn’t want to take one step close to them. Considering what had transpired to them before, she had no desire to be anywhere near them. And she’d figured it would be mutual. “What could you possible still have to say to me?”

      “You know, I told you all of that in confidence. That generally means that you don’t tell anyone what I told you.” There's a hint of annoyance in her voice as she speaks. Though one may have expected a stronger reaction at such a betrayal. After a moment of silence, she asks in a calm voice: “Why did you tell them? What made it so necessary for you to tell them something so personal?”

"No,” Maya snickers, quickly looking away from the other. “Shut up. Don’t lie to me.” She lifts the bottle of beer to her lips and takes a sip as she looks around the party. "There’s no need to flatter me with lies. I'm honestly content. No need to make me feel better with lies.”
