Despite the winds, raining, the thunder and, apparently, the strange turtles, Juniper had made an effort to come into work that day. She didn’t like not working. It made her seem unreliable. She didn’t like not working, it gave her time to think. Besides, she realised she’d left one of her sprays somewhere at the council and the idea of not having it for another week if she didn’t come in made her skin itch with anxiety.
As she pushed open the door to Rian’s office, she noticed the familiar figure inside. “I- I can wait till you- you’re gone,” she said, scratching the side of her face.
