These socks are over a decade old, and are the second ever pair of socks I made. The first pair are no longer in use after I accidentally felted the ribbing - or, more accurately, accidentally knit the ribbing with easily feltable yarn. We were all young once, eh?
They're No Purl Monkeys by Cookie A, made before I realised that stripes and fake cables don't match.
These babies saw me through high school, university, and my first job. They've endured machine washing and Doc Martens; the heels are felted; the yarn on the soles are worn to shining acrylic; they are an outright hazard to wear on laminate flooring.
Still, I love them. And even though some of the YOs are starting to look a little strained, I still hope they'll last me many more years.
(In case you're wondering, the yarn is ZigZag by King Cole, a cheap yet effective favourite of mine. Specifically the old 50/50 split, which has been replaced by the much softer 75/25 split.)
