#knitted socks

current wip my beloved!

these are the comfiest socks I've ever worn and they don't even have toes yet :) I'm following this pattern by Andrea Pfuhl and it is super well written and easy to follow so far. yes this is my 4th cast on of this project; the 1st attempt I used bad colours, the 2nd I used too many colours and wrecked my tension, the 3rd i made the exact same mistakes as the previous times. then I went out and bought yarn specifically from this project, calmed down and started again. and it's working!!! need to make socks using other construction methods but for now I'm a heel flap/gusset warrior.

I'm sooo excited to finish these they're going to go so well with my big boots for walking in the upcoming colder months. I'm a big birdwatcher and i know these are going to go so hard once it's cold and wet and I want to keep my feet cozy to look at all the lovely feathered fellows about.

i swear my posts will be more staggered in the future but hehe excited about these bad boys! i recently got into knitting socks after i caught a mate knitting one and was like omg that looks so tiny and fiddly you crazy boy i could never....

anyway yeh so after that I bought some DPNs and gave it a go and I am hooked!!!! this is my 4th pair already since starting early June, I've made myself 2 pairs, my partner a pair and now this one for our lovely housemate because if one of us gets socks we alll get socks. we're a hivemind like that

anyways, loved making these, love making socks it's my fave ever I've just cast on my 5th and most complex pair and I am drooling to wear them already and they're only half done

Queued up a 5 hour video essay on fascism and meat consumption, getting stuck into my sock project, and RAIN. Fuck the 4th. Fuck fireworks and guns and everything that scares my dog.

One of those knitting project that looks a lot more difficult than it actually is. And the lace in the ankle and heel have made me hungry for tortellini.

Pattern is The Hemulin's Garden from Knitted Moomin Socks. FYI this book is often pretty inexpensive in used book shops like Abe Books, like ~$17 for 29 patterns!

Yarn used is Knit Picks Palette in Bare and Tea Rose

Bear in mind that all the patterns are intended to be made with DK yarn and I've bum-rushed my way into this project with fingering weight 😅 You betcha I've had to start over a few times to get the right gauge and fit. But I'm using up some of my yarn stash on this so it's not like I bought the wrong yarn

Hey!! Long time no see! Just stopping by to show u my newest pair of knitted socks- I love them 🤩

Pattern is So Comfy Socks by KeenWhale (free pattern- highly recommend!) and the yarn was I think called Gruffalo Glow from Bobbin Sister Yarns, which I bought last year on holiday in Hay-On-Wye.

Will defo be knitting this pattern again at some point- but next time I think I’ll do the heel flap just a couple of rows shorter- fit is great other than a little bit of extra fabric around the ankle!
