Sorry for such a long break (for me)! My work has been scheduling me differently than usual (Two new employees got fired, because they just stopped showing up. One got shingles. One broke her ankle...)
Anyway...chapters have been increasing in length, for some reason. I’m not sure why? Sorry for not breaking it up in more chunks, but I knew when writing this that it might not be until next week, that I add on the next segment.
I got excited about the idea of going deeper into Baz’s past, while he’s in the hospital. His segments won’t always be like this, but it was fun writing it, for some reason.
The confrontation between Stephan and Simon is way longer and more detailed than I intended it to be. I was kind of like “Wait. What’s going on now? I need answers...” So I sort of went back from the beginning and worked out how Stephan fit into Simon and Baz’s story.
*This is the 17th chapter (out of ?), so I apologize if there are any inconsistencies. I’ve already caught that I’ve referred to the school paper at Watford as both “Weekly Watford’ and ‘Watford Weekly.’ I’ve gone back and changed it so all of the references are to the ‘Watford Weekly.’ Sorry Guys!
*Thanks for your patience with all the grammatical errors, inconsistencies (not on purpose, I swear) and other junk. Hope everyone likes this chapter or gets something out of it!
*Cookie tip: Instead of using chocolate chips, buy one of those “fancy” chocolate bars (*Lindt, Alter Eco, Equal Exchange, etc.) and chop up into “chip-size” pieces. That way, you can buy say a burnt caramel flavored chocolate bar, or mint chocolate bar and have that flavor mixed in with the chips you add to the cookie. Chocolove is my favorite brand of “fancy” chocolate, but is a little harder to chop because of how it’s raised up, vs. flat.
*Also, I’ve never added chocolate drizzle to chocolate chip cookies, because that would be way too much for me, even if I had just one cookie. Just added it into the story, because it sounded sexy. Original draft had marshmallow added to the cookies and I was like “Yeah, I’m already sick...” and had to delete it out. Lol. I have seen chocolate drizzled onto coconut macaroon cookies, though. Looks yummy!
*Anyway, Happy SnowBaz AU Fan Fic! Thank’s AO3, for your awesome and amazing website!
Summary:
Baz is an overworked employee for an understaffed grocery store, who puts up with his job in order to support himself while attending school. The black sheep of the family, Baz's father cuts him off from the family inheritance. He's left to make due on his own, but does so determined to finish school and do well by himself. His mother having died when he was young, Baz holds onto the memory of her love, when life grows hard.
Simon has been spoiled his whole life, and can't seem to appreciate his parents' efforts to get him ahead in life, including a free get-into-top-notch-school card. Despite countless perks, comforts, and financial support, Simon is finally starting to realize...He's truly unhappy. While never admitting to arranging his marriage, Simon knows that his relationship with Agatha seems to please their parents more than it does him. An unplanned trip to the grocery store after a failed night with Agatha completely turns Simon's world upside down.
