My Globe Artichoke babies have all been trans-planted today in this sunshine and luckily they are looking quite sturdy so far. Fingers crossed they handle the further rain tomorrow, til the sunshine on the weekend. Obviously, it has been a challenge to imitate Mediterranean conditions in the hills for these beauties, but I now understand they required more compost, better drainage and lots more sand. My five year old plant has produced three artichokes but the wind over the weekend has not helped to strengthen her. Nevertheless, I am happy to report I have Green Globe, Purple Romagna and 15 odd Violetto Artichokes for this season !! These artichokes and my organic garden greens have been vital in maintaining good gut bacteria and improving my absorption of iron finally. This is mainly from eating as much of the stem as it holds most of its medicinal properties. Does anybody have ideas for use of the stem leaves? #Espana #alcachofas #melbournechefs #cookinggrowing #organicvegies #loveyourgreens #organictastesbetter #eatingfrommygarden #paellas #foodloves #yarraranges #yarravalley #morningtonpeninsula #lovecooking https://www.instagram.com/p/B4uCr8VgwZz/?igshid=1mtkio81kn88l
