I am thinking about writing a fic that starts with Declan doubling down on hos failing marriage, Cameron distancing herself from him, and them both going on journeys that reveal to them taht they have both been unhappy for a long time. I want to write about them outgrowing their dying relationships, finding eachother. Of course they will be drama involving Rupert being in love with Taggie, Patrick beefing with his dad over Cameron, and Maude being selfish. I waslo want Declan to confront that he has been a shit father. What do you all think?

basically Declan being so parasocial his entire marriage is built on him imagining himself as his favorite poet, Yeats— and romanticizes Maud constantly cheating on him by imagining himself as Yeats who constantly gets rejected by Maud Gonne.

BUT then I saw an edit on tiktok that actually compared Cameron to Maud Gonne and my third eye has opened.

Yeats supposedly being soooo in love (+clinically obsessed) with Maud Gonne that he proposed to her daughter (who also turned him down 💀) just to be close to her mother.

IN A SENSE…. if we modernize this and shake it around a bit:

Isn’t Declan offering his son, and saying he’s a much better fit for Cameron just to be close to her, kinda the same sentiment? Because he knows their situation is too complicated, that even tho he wants her himself, it probably won’t happen (yet :D). Living vicariously through his son, basically 💀
