I visited this cafe on the 29th of August 2020, the interior of the cafe was fairly plain, though they did have 2 screens displaying scenes from late in the Manga, as well as advertising Tite Kubo's new series 'Burn the Witch' getting an anime adaptation. Along with that, they also had a screen running a video guide on how to create Ichigo's Hamburger Steak dish if you wanted to try it yourself, which was pretty interesting!
For each dish you order, you'll receive a special random sticker of one of the characters. And for each drink, you'll get a postcard. (I was lucky enough to get all the characters I liked! Wow!)
I pre-ordered a main and a dessert. First was 'Renji's Roar Zabimaru! Tandori Chicken', which were skewers of chicken, zucchini and cherry tomatoes covered in cheese. They were slightly spicy and overall quite good.
As for the dessert, I went for 'Hitsugaya's Sit Upon the Frozen Heavens! Hyourinmaru Cheesecake'. It was just a plain cheesecake, but blue. No complaints, but not a stand out aside from it being quite pretty to look at.
Lastly, drinks can be ordered at any point during your stay at the cafe. I ordered two drinks, 'Getsuga Tenshou Lemon Mint Coke', and 'Shinsou Salty Lychee'. Both were very refreshing on such a hot day, but I think I preferred the Lemon Mint coke, the hint of mint and punch of lemon was a really nice combination.
In the end, while the cafe's appearance was quite plain, I was overall quite happy with the food and drinks. The staff were lovely, and I had a great time. I look forward to visiting the Cookpad Studio for more collab cafes in the future! (The Promised Neverland?!)
The 10th themed cafe for Cookpad Studio in Shinsaibashi, Osaka, this time the theme is The Promised Neverland, in celebration of the live action film, and the manga/animes general popularity here in Japan. I visited this cafe on the 12th of September 2020. This cafe took place in the same location as the Bleach cafe I went to previously, and so the scenery was familiar and welcoming. On the screens they played a trailer for the anime, a trailer for the live action movie, and a demonstration on how to prepare the dish 'Grace Field House's Forest Hamburg steak'.
As per the usual for cafes, for each drink you order, you'll receive a random special postcard of one of the three main characters. And for each dish you order, you'll get a random special sticker of the same 3 characters.
Once again, I had preordered a main and a dessert. For the main, I chose 'Emma, Ray and Norman's Promised chicken saute', which consisted of a sliced piece of chicken with salad and 3 sauces. Unfortunately the sauces were not listed, so at a guess (with my terrible taste buds), I'd say the white one was a White sauce, the orange one was a carrot puree, and the black one was tricky... possibly something made from seaweed due to its strong salty flavor. Regardless, they were all quite delicious together with the chicken and fresh salad, an overall enjoyable main dish!
As for dessert, I had chosen 'Ray's ganache chocolate cake'. I am a lover of all things chocolate, and this was the perfect finish to the meal. A thick rich chocolate cake with a touch of cream and biscuit on top with Ray's number stuck to it. The sheer richness of this cake made it a struggle to get through, but that's certainly not a criticism!
Lastly, I ordered two drinks. While I'd loved to have ordered all three, unfortunately I do not drink coffee, and thus couldn't order 'Ray's milk coffee' drink. So I went for 'Emma's orange mango tapioca' and 'Norman's blue white soda'. I'm always a fan of mango drinks, so Emma's orange mango drink was very nice and refreshing. I'd also like to point out that the tapioca balls inside were a rainbow of colors that really represented Emma quite well! Norman's soda drink was a pretty typical 'blue' flavored soft drink, but I always enjoy a nice soft drink!
To conclude, this was my second visit to the Cookpad Studio cafe, and to my surprise, the staff shockingly remembered me from my last visit for Bleach. It made me feel very welcome, and I was glad to return again to eat more delicious food! I hope whatever theme they choose next is one I'd also like to go to, I might become a regular at this rate!
We're back at Shinsaibashi's Cookpad Studio for another crossover café! This time featuring Godzilla in celebration of its 66th year anniversary! Once again I find myself at Shinsaibashi's Cookpad studio! This makes my 3rd visit (after Bleach & The Promised Neverland) I'm always happily excited to visit this little café each time. The staff are super friendly, and this time they even described what each dish was made from, which was a bonus for me! I visited here on the 21st of November 2020.
As per the usual for cafes, for each drink you order, you’ll receive a random special postcard of a famous Godzilla monster. And for each dish you order, you’ll get a random coaster with a selection of the same monsters but in chibi form.
For this café, as usual, I had preordered my dishes ahead of time. I had chosen for my main 'The tail draws near! Shin-Osaka's famous Kushikatsu Curry'. This was a keema curry featuring Godzilla's tail made from a prawn covered in black dyed breadcrumbs and anchored with a slice of boiled daikon. The curry was delicious, the perfect balance of spice for me personally, just enough to make my nose run but not to cause pain. While I've never been a huge fan of ginger, I found the ginger mixed into the rice to be a great compliment to the spiciness of the curry. Not to mention the Kushikatsu were all deliciously crisp. Overall a brilliant dish!
For dessert I had ordered the 'Godzilla Chocolate cake'. Having had a very similar chocolate cake from their Promised Neverland café, I was eager to have another. Another beautifully thick chocolate cake featuring Godzilla's footprints over the top, and banana/fruit jelly running off the side.
As for the drinks, I ordered 'Magma with ginger slices' and 'Dorsal fin Mixed Juice'. The Mixed juice had the exact same flavor as the jelly on the chocolate cake dish, which I thought was quite clever. While the Magma drink was very refreshing with the ginger slices, another perfect match to go with the curry.
While I was disappointed I had to miss the last theme (Unfortunately I'm not into Haikyuu), I was excited to return for this Godzilla theme and it was totally worth the wait! I once again had a lot of fun in the tiny but quiet café, with excellent friendly service and delicious food (like usual!). While the next theme is once again one I have no interest in (Osomatsu), I will eagerly await another theme I can visit for!
