I just realised for the 4 years that Ai Di spent waiting to celebrate their birthdays together, Chen Yi ended up waiting 4 years too omg :'-( and to overanalyse, 4 in mandarin sounds like "die", while 8 sounds like "prosper"; after 4 years Ai Di was going to let his love die, but the 4 years after, Chen Yi finally realises and there is hope for their relationship to flourish,,,

Ai Di spent four years hoping for something he gave up on because Chenyi was too close to see him clearly and then Chenyi spent four years waiting so far from him that he saw everything exactly as it was.
But the pronunciation knowledge is beautiful. Absolutely lovely and it makes sense. Each of those four years period were like a slow and painful death for them and now, after eight years, they can finally come together and prosper.
