Barbie walks over to Ken and lays her head on his lap, petting Pepper when the dog comes over. "Hey Ken. I need your advice? Cool Ken was being.. not nice. Not mean but not nice to me in the store, talking about the things i made. What should I do? It made me sad."

Pepper snuggles close to Barbie, sensing she was sad and wanting to help. Meanwhile, Ken huffs over Crafting Barbie’s predicament while he plays with her hair. “Keeeeeeen,” he groans out. Then he says, “Aaw, gosh, Barbie, I’m sorry. That is too mean, I don’t care what you say about it. You make really awesome stuff! I think everything you make is pretty special.”

“Listen, here’s the thing about Cool Ken: sometimes he doesn’t realize how he comes off. He can be pretty nice, but when he’s trying extra hard to be cool, he can come off rough. I don’t know why he tries extra hard for it, but I kinda get why he can’t see how he’s like received. Let this one ride, Barbie, and if he tries that mess again, let me know, and I’ll take care of it. Hang out with me and Pepper for a while.”

Polly, not wanting to be left out, climbs up the back of Ken’s shirt and up to the top of his head. Meow, she says softly. “See?” Ken says as he points up to his kitten. “Even Polly agrees, you should hang out with us.”

Dear Ken Diary,

I feel like I need to make something very clear. Boredom does in fact exist in Barbie Land.

I know, I know that’s totally like very anti what Barbie Land is, but it’s true. At least it’s true for me. I’ve experienced it like bunches of times, and to be fair, I’ve experienced loooooooads more than most in Barbie Land when it comes to head and heart stuff. Boredom’s one of those things.

I told Barbie once that I got so bored when other people thought. That’s partly true.

See, I didn’t know who was playing with Barbie at the time and like how that whole connection thing worked. And it wasn’t like I could actually help Barbie if she decided to just sit and like think or meditate or whatever she decided to do. Which, ya know, is exactly what she did. So I couldn’t help with that. I can’t read minds.

Although that would be totally cool and totally like…creepy. Like I only want to read minds if it’s helpful for me, but I don’t wanna like hear Cool Ken’s thoughts all the time or hear things from Barbies and Kens I don’t care about or need to know. So there’s some drawbacks to this. You know what? I need to really think out this whole mind-reading thing. Like is it actually worth it? Maybe if I can only partially do it instead of like all the time. Can I flip it off and on like a switch? Or will I hear everyone all the time? That would suck soooooo bad.

Why am I talking about this again?

Oh yeah! Boredom.

So anyway, when I said, “I hate it when people think. I get so bored,” that was only partially true. I totally like thinking about things I like or things I think are helpful. But when other people have to think and I don’t know how to contribute, then I get bored.

Ordinary Barbie and Weird Barbie taught me that. Like today actually.

Turns out I got bored a lot in Barbie Land. Still do sometimes though I guess not as bad.

But yeah, I learned that today. Just another step in the whole Ken is me and I’m Kenough thing. It’s something I wasn’t expecting to learn, like at all, but yeah! It’s still a good thing, right? They said it is, and I trust them about that.

Ken looks over and sees Independent Barbie, and he waves at her. “Hi, Barbie. I’m pouting because I tried to do a flip again and totally like…not flipped. More like flopped.”

He huffs and crosses his arms. “Cool Ken laughed too, and that totally didn’t help.”

Dear Ken Diary,

You’re not going to believe this. You’re not. I know you’re not because I don’t believe it. You ready for this? You’re not but I’m gonna tell you anyway.

Allan. Wasn’t. Joking.

HE CAN FIGHT!! Like actually fight!

And it was…insane to watch! But in like the best way possible! He got gold in all those categories! I’m so proud of him 🏅🏅 I mean, dude. It was ridiculous. I loved it.

Where was he during the Ken War anyway?! He would’ve been on my team! Hhmmmm…actually…Maybe it was for the best he wasn’t there now that I think about it. Still though.

Dude I WISH! I wish wish wish I could’ve gotten a picture of Cool Ken’s face when Allan won the match against him 😂😂😂 One of the funniest moments of my life! The Barbie Land Olympics were all totally worth it just for that moment.

Amazing.

😩 - finding a good balance between naivety and intelligence. This Ken is smart, but he is just ignorant in certain areas. He just doesn’t know any better, but he’s so smart. And finding that line can be a challenge.

⌨️ - I think a reunion with Stereotypical Barbie would be fun. I especially think interactions with Cool Ken would be fun. “Loathing, unadulterated loathing” 😂😂

🎭 - Mmmm. I think on some level we’re pretty similar. Kind, chill, goofy, smart. I think we would be BFFs in real life.

Dear Ken Diary,

Cool Ken is not so cool! He should be called Annoying Ken! UGH! Okay so like, all the Kens are working on a new dance for the next dance party to show to all the Barbies because everybody thinks that would be fun. Just to like do something new, ya know? The Barbies are working on a new dance, and so are we! And then we're gonna like maybe teach the Barbies and they teach us theirs, I dunno. We haven't thought that far ahead. Point is, the Barbies are coming up with a new dance, and so are the Kens, alright? Well Cool Ken is like lowkey taking over the whole thing and like EVERY dance step thing any of us come up with, he's like BOOM! Does it on the first try! And then he does that dumb hair whip thing that makes all the sparkle appear out of nowhere, and I'm like GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!! Like okay, the guy is usually nice and chill and whatever and of course all the Barbies are like "OMG Cool Ken yaaaaaaaay! Do a flip, Cool Ken!" But like no one wants to see that! Flips aren't that cool anyway. And it's not because I can't do one on purpose either! They just aren't that cool. Whatever. I'm like pretty sure part of it all is on purpose too. Like Barbie's told me before that if I didn't react so GGGRRRRR to what he does all the time, then it wouldn't be as bad. And like I get that, but at the same time, he's just one of those people that make me go GGGRRRR. It's always been that way. This whole frenemies thing is like so weird, ya know? But you know what cracks me up though? Polly and Pepper don't like him either. Like they've figured out that Cool Ken gets on my last nerve, so they don't really wanna deal with him, and it drives him crazy! HA! Sometimes Pepper will play with him but like only if Cool Ken gives him a treat, which like I can't blame Pepper for succumbing to a treat offer. Like okay fair. But Polly will have none of it. That baby fluffball will turn her nose up at him and walk away, and it is hilarious. It's even funnier if she goes straight to me if she's walking away from Cool Ken, and dude, I swear as soon as I pick her up, she gives Cool Ken this "ha ha" face too. And it makes Cool Ken go GGRRRRRR. And then I'm like HA HA! Not like outwardly but totally like on the inside. But at the same time like, I feel kinda bad because he just wants to play and pet with my sweet kitten and puppy. I mean like, who wouldn't honestly. If I was in his shoes, I'd feel like totally sad about it and like I was totally...missing out. Oh. ...maybe he needs a kitten of his own or something...hhhhmmmmm...
