I don't think it's a massive deal whether we call it the SOUL or the PLAYER, but in Undertale, there is a clear distinction between the PLAYER, SOUL, and CHARACTER. So it's possible the same distinction exists here too.
Yeahhhhh it just bugs me because part of my interpretation of Deltarune includes the player being non-diagetic, i.e. not literally controlling the soul in-game.
I agree with those distinctions. I think Kris and their soul are both parts of Kris, but due to the mental illness Kris has dissociated from their soul.
This idea is called “krissociation” and is championed by @radicaldreemurrs, and stands in contrast to possession theory, in which the player is using the soul to control Kris.
i dunno if it makes sense narratively, characters do worse things to themselves than what has happened to himiko this arc and yet she just. dies. what
well the idea is that Toga can't exactly exist freely how she wants to in this society nor can she just stand by and let Ochako die because even an easier world to live in is meaningless without her
So it makes sense rather than be captured and force to live as a villain by society's standards (because obviously you can't just undo everything she's done at this point even tho i fully support her getting off scott free, i accept her for who she is, the atrocities are a part of her and i've decided they're funny) she'll give her life so that Ochako will survive
Ochako for the first time made her realize she could do more than just take blood, she made the selfish Himiko Toga act selflessly!! the only way I see out of this that other people have brought up is maybe having Hawks be the one to save Himiko's life after what he's taken from her and you know maybe he could use his influence to absolve Himiko of some of her crimes if he doesn't die saving her but idk, Horikoshi rly needs to follow through with society itself needing to change and adapt so that the league of villains doesnt happen again, all of them were failed by those around them, they weren't inherently evil people at all
Himiko Toga does deserve a world that's easier for her to live in and Ochako deserves to be the one who saves everyone, her quirk is not meant for hurting people and her losing Toga after all this would just feel so so bad but I literally don't trust hori cos like, its the GUYS who survive the insane shit, but Midnight, the USA lady, and even Lady Nagant were killed by shit other heroes would've survived easily
in conclusion no matter what its clear Himiko was deeply in love with Ochako and Ochako loved her back and it was the love of another girl that 'saved' Himiko

now, on how catra and scorpia became friends? this is how they met:
middle of night, catra out stealing some extra food to snack on from the mess hall, and scorpia just sobbing about her Life in a corner of the garden. an awkward exchange of eye contact is made and catra runs off. scorpia is mortified but at least it was only The Beast who saw her and no one Important.
so she didnt worry, that is, until scorpia willingly started attending after school bible study that catra is forced to sit through.
catra just feels awkward around scorpia bc she knows it would be embarrassing to be walked in on a vulnerable moment like that. scorpias just all around embarrassed.
but a few weeks of bible study go by and they both realize the other isnt terrible company.

family situation is theyre all dead
so scorpias family in this au are dragon hybrids who live in the crimson deserts that resides on one of the borders of etheria. they have a pretty consistent and powerful crest bloodline and have ruled the territory peacefully for a long time. one would argue that theyre not really a part of the horde in culture and simply by lines on the map.
but one day, seemingly out of no where, scorpias moms gave all bureaucratic power to the hordes capital and then had their estates closed completely to the public. the people of the crimson desert heard nothing of their noble family until years later when it was “announced” that the noble family has abandoned the realm and left one of their daughters behind, and that the horde was simply raising scorpia and organizing the exchange of power during the years of silence.
all bullshit of course, men of horde prime invaded the estate and killed scorpias moms, and then took her and her siblings to an underground facility where they were brutally experimented on. the goal being finding a way to stably implant a crest into someone without them becoming a monster.
the procedures were agonizing on the children, and all except scorpia died from them. she survived, her dark hair now white, and with two crests.
but that is not without consequence. scorpia basically has a whole extra crest stone in her body, and her body can barely handle it (think of her having an autoimmune disorder, her new crest IS a part of her but her body attacks itself because it thinks the crest is an intruder). she suffers from chronic fatigue and seizures, and her trauma from her time in the labs has dramatically reduced her ability to take care of herself, which doesnt help her overall condition. shes also ordered to keep everything a secret, as she was told the church would do worse to her if she were to expose anything.
so she sort of listlessly lives, waiting for the one seizure that will kill her, until she met catra and entrapta. they help her manage her health and during the war entrapta even creates the equivalent of immunosuppressants to suppress the extra crest so she doesnt suffer from the effects of it as often.
the war, catra and entrapta, and her own determination has given her hope that she may one day live have her extra crest removed. but that depends on the ending XD

A lot of the time i see your art and mistake it for Hussie's. Back in the day, he used to draw very similar pencil sketches with the line shading ", oval heads, and sharp bodies/hair.
Oh I love to hear this. I love Hussie’s art style and I even have his old comic The Starlight Calliope….Sometimes I like to lean a bit into his way of drawing for HS guys, or at least keep it in mind. 😈 This ask makes me want to try mimicking it for realzies though
