The Deltarune fandom watching in abject horror as the game ends with Kris processing their trauma and accepting the soul, a mere representation of their cognitive dissonance, as a true part of their identity (a decade has been wasted making player slander content when we could've been discussing Kris's character complexities).

It is really funny how the pillar of most Possession Theory arguments rested on how Noelle described Kris' behavior on the Weird Route during Chapter 2 and 4, in addition to all of the flaws in the argument originally, we now know with some certainty after the Chapter 5 Weird Route that when Noelle says Kris "isn't Kris", she means not that they're literally a different person but is (and in large part projecting her own issues) no longer who they're "supposed to be", in contrast to Noelle believing she can't stop 'being Noelle', throughout both routes.

I suppose it's funny, then; being Noelle Holiday is so contagious she convinced more than half of the fandom that her Truman Show delusion was the reality! Also, I feel largely vindicated as I've been saying for literal years Noelle is dissociative (specifically as early as 2023 I said she probably has OSDD-3, also known as trance disorder), and with the recent revelations that's more or less become the text of the game!

Kris's jealousy of Noelle and Susie further convinces me that Krissociation is, at least to some extent, in play. There is a part of Kris, deep down, that would do anything to have a shred of what they had with Noelle when the pair were children.

Anything.

The choices we can make are things that occur to Kris, perhaps sometimes as intrusive thoughts, perhaps other times as repressed desires from what Jung would call their shadow-self. The SOUL, an embodiment of their DETERMINATION, chooses between them...and that, too, is part of Kris.

All of this is pretty well-trod ground, as far as theories go. Point is, Krissociation is still around--in fact, is arguably even stronger as a lens for reading the story.

you know, it always struck me as odd that noelle told kris about them visiting her house at night and removing the thorn ring, even out of the context of them explicitly telling her not to tell them about that. i was racking my brains about it, wondering if she was telling them to affirm to herself that that actually happened and it wasn't a dream -- maybe hoping they'd confirm it for her -- or out of sheer curiosity in regards to why they even asked her not to say anything in the first place.

but i feel like the answer might be simpler than that: she's used to telling them about things that they've forgotten they did in the past.

having DID causes gaps in memory, which it's already been established kris has (see the egg rooms, and those times where kris does something the player is unaware of when kris removes their soul could also be metaphorically referencing memory gaps). if kris has done something with noelle, and she's brought it up to them afterwards to a blank expression on kris's face, it makes sense that she -- with some confusion i imagine -- would give remind them of the details. and if this happened frequently, it would be something she'd get accustomed to. we've seen her often reflecting on old memories she's shared with kris, asriel and dess, but maybe she's not just doing it for nostalgia purposes -- maybe she's also checking to see if kris remembers that as well.

she may not necessarily know they have DID -- she may just see it as a kris thing, another thing that makes kris themself. yeah, they've got poor memory at times, just one of those things about kris.

it's a loose theory, but that flashback was always something that bothered me a bit because i wasn't sure what purpose it served diagetically (obviously for the player's purpose it was exposition) and it made more sense when i looked at it this way.
