Sweet Disposition - James Rodriguez Story - Chapter 2

"Monique," I said, on the phone the next day. "I never knew your brother was friends with a footballer.."

"James Rodriguez?" she asked. Oh god, that name was attractive. And it sent butterflies in my tummy. "Oh yeah they met in some music festival and became best buddies. Why?"

"He asked me out," I said. "On a freaking date."

"Stace you don't go on dates," Monique said.

"I know right," I muttered sarcastically.

"Why do I feel like there's a 'but' coming?" she asked and waited for me to say something.

"Mon he's so hot, I couldn't say no," I said, falling on my bed.

"Oh my god," Monique said. "The big strong Stacy McCullers said yes to a date? Is this my friend? Is this the same person who went to the school dance single even after being asked by 10 guys?"

"Guys in our class are lame," I said matter-of-factly. "This guy's a footballer. And he's adorable."

"Yes he's cute for sure," she said. "But what happens if he gets too serious?"

"Mon, it's me," I said. "Nobody in their right mind would want it to get serious with me. I'm whiny, I do zero social activities a day and I eat too much."

"Wow Stacey," she said sarcastically. "Beautiful description of yourself."

"It's correct," I told her. "He's going to get bored of me real soon."

"And if you fall for him?"

"Then I'm probably going to get hurt."

We were going to dinner, James and I. It was just two people having burgers and good dessert somewhere and not getting into serious commitment, right?

I wanted to make a good impression on him so I obviously had to dress well. I chose a red v necked top to go with jeans that hugged my ass just right. I didn't want to overdress either, or look like I was dying to get into his pants. Which I honestly wasn't. To be honest, I had no idea where I'd wanted this to go. But it was the first date and we'd have to wait and see.

The doorbell rang at 7 pm sharp and I quickly put on earrings. I didn't know why but I felt really happy knowing he was here. When I opened the door a bright smiley face greeted me with a bouquet of flowers.

"For my lovely date he said," and grinned. He was wearing a black summer jacket over a white shirt and jeans. He really was a good looking boy. "And you look beautiful," - he added and I could have sworn I felt butterflies in my stomach.

"So where are we going?" I asked.

"I've kind of taken the liberty of arranging a picnic for the two of us-"

"Oh," I said, kind of amused at the idea of a dinner picnic.

"At the Stade Louis II," he said, and my eyes went wide. "Yup, the AS Monaco stadium."
