Falling in Lust at a Coffee Shop || Coopcian
The day was bright and lively with birds and various signs of human life while Lucian felt nostalgic for something he had never experienced. All of his life had revolved around two completely different halves of a whole, ones with a very thin line that was easily crossed- pleasure and pain. It never ceased to surprise him how closely they maintained their friendship, yet it made perfect sense. Both created a whole while seemingly living at two different sides of the universe. Sexually pleasuring pain, for instance, was enjoyable as long as you knew what you were doing. So easily could you cross that carefully placed line and actually hurt your partner. Then the emotionally pleasing pain, something he was certain not many believed existed. All people dipped into that pleasure every now and then, whether they'd like to admit it. Everyone was destroying themselves in the end and that was that. Who knew one random hookup could possibly throw him for so far of a loop that he started to question exactly what kept his head above water? Jace didn't mean a thing to him, but the words he spoke struck a chord. He was infuriating and annoying and far too young but there was a point to the things he said.
Heaving a soft sigh, he stopped mindlessly fiddling with the television remote and staring at a "no signal" screen while he pondered his thoughts. It was an odd quirk of his, but doing so seemed to help with his thinking process. He retained more information and thought a little clearly, like the electronic box was absorbing the information and running it through various, numerical tests to check for every possible answer. He knew that wasn't actually happening, but picturing the process in his head helped some, especially when he went into colleges for various educations on mundane human jobs that he would need in order to fit in a little easier. Here in Boston, things were a lot easier on the stress levels when it came to jobs. Master had been kind and allotted him a slot as a bartender in one of the local clubs. It paid nicely and he worked late, flexible hours. The people were entertaining and, on the plus side, it was a strip club. On his days off, or before and after work, he often mingled with the customers and found that night's lay while he was at it. He had only just finished his shift when Jace popped up and demanded- literally demanded- his attention. Who was Lucian to deny such a pretty face the best lesson he could ever be taught? Now, though... he was stuck with this. Standing from his seat on the couch, he hurried along with getting ready, craving to get out of the house for once in what seemed like forever. He had been out and about, but he needed to get out just for the soul purpose of grabbing some fresh air and personal enjoyment. If Cooper happened to show up, well, he wasn't going to be rude and deny his company.
Speaking of which, it had been three days since the last time he'd seen the man who had entered his thoughts and refused to leave. There was something odd going on within his system, because he couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing- which grew stronger the longer he avoided seeing him. He ached to be close to him again and all of the emotions running rampant through his body both displeased and excited. He had never felt so strongly for another before and that terrified him, but he couldn't help but crave more of it- crave more of him with that gorgeous voice and eyes like the clearest sky. Almost like today, he realized as he stepped outside of his house, car keys clutched in hand. He dressed casually and might have purposefully chosen the tank top to show off his arms, toned from years of boxing and fighting. The sun was amazingly bright, making him glad he put on a pair of cheap sunglasses he had grabbed at the convenience store around the corner. It was cool for a Summer's day in Seattle and the temperature above his car's dash said eighty degrees Fahrenheit- fairly heated but he often ventured to hot places, so he wasn't dying in the dark clothes he wore.
Lucian drove for a little while, his window rolled all the way down, so he could clear his head a little. His thoughts wandered towards nicer ones, images of Cooper laughing and smiling and gazing at him with adoration in those light blue eyes. He hadn't really experienced any of those, but he wanted to with every fiber of his being. He wanted to see his eyes sparkle and his teeth bared in a chuckling smile. There were so many questions floating around in his head and so few answers. The man was still a mystery to him, and he was sure he always would be, no matter how much he himself liked to deny it. Cooper was something different and the only person to ever show pure kindness towards him. The way he had touched him so gently and soothed soft lips over his skin. He had taken care of Lucian when he needed someone, unlike so many others, while knowing who he was. He must have some idea of the things he had done, the things he was born to do and would continue doing because that was who he was. Angels knew the kinds of things that demons were alive to fulfill- even, for most, fun. He could pretend that he found enjoyment in the sinful crimes he committed but there were so many downsides at each turn, such a wrong feeling that tagged along to each act.
Eventually, he found himself cruising through the downtown area, in an entirely different section from the nightclubs and high life. This part of the place was a lot more quiet and peaceful. There was one lengthy road with strips of stores lining each side. He pulled up into the allotted parking space for little, off-brand bookstore he had found the other day, and told Cooper about during their moment of normal conversation while everything seemed so messed up. Ben's Bookstore, it was called, and he stepped from his care to take a quick look around. The sun glared off of each passing car, lighting the place while his sunglasses did their job and deflected. He noted that there was a coffee shop across the street, something he hadn't noticed the first time around. Popping his door back open as one young pair of women walked past him, chattering about some mundane topic, Lucian reached into his glove compartment and grabbed the pack of cigarettes he kept stashed in there. He knocked one out and stuck it between his lips, fishing out his lighter before lighting up the end until it flamed red. He kicked the door shut and leaned against it, carefully breathing in the nicotine as he scanned the area, people-watching as he did best.
Without giving it a second thought, his cigarette held carefully in between to fingers, he used the other hand to grapple with his phone. It took a long moment for him to even unlock the damned thing, but he managed. Scrolling down a little ways, he got to the C section and tapped it, taking another drag. He was acting on a whim and his insane desire to be near this man who had walked in and shifted his world. Cooper had never actually given him his cell phone number, but a little bit of research and hacking can get you a long ways. Blowing out slowly, he typed up a quick text and sent it off. Don't ask how I got your number and meet me at Ben's Bookstore on Maple Street. - Lucian He slid the phone back into his pocket and waited to see if his calling would be received.
